Alexandra... it sounds like your kitten is nursing on your neck! He won't let you pet him? I'd try petting him while he's eating until he gets used to it.

He lets us pet him, but when he gets into vampire mode, he will only do that. It's really obnoxious! He's actually a little love bug and purrs like a motor if you even walk into the room sometimes. I hope he never outgrows it...except for the vampire thing. Oh, when he does it, he flattens out his ears and closes his eyes. Is that nursing?

DoD blocks 12 Web sites

by Jim Garamone, American Forces Press Service

Published: Thursday, May 17, 2007 11:56 AM CDT

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Defense Department is blocking access to many popular Internet sites from department-owned computers because of bandwidth issues, U.S. Strategic Command officials said May 14.

Joint Task Force Global Network Operations, which directs the operation and defense of the Defense Department's global information grid to assure timely and secure capabilities in support of the department's warfighting, intelligence, and business missions, blocked 12 popular sites on government computers May 14.

The sites are: youtube.com, pandora.com, photobucket.com, myspace.com, live365.com, hi5.com, metacafe.com, mtv.com, ifilm.com, blackplanet.com, stupidvideos.com and filecabi.com.

OP... very cute babies! Please do have them spayed/neutered at 6 months (you don't want incest, do you?? )

Soft Claws sounds much more humane than declawing. Declawing is actually cutting the cat's "fingers" off at the last knuckle. Brutal and painful, not to mention that they can't defend themselves properly after that. I worked for years at an animal hospital and assisting with that surgery was the WORST. The vet's reasoning was that it was better have the cat declawed and have a home, than not declawed and euthanized for destructive behaviour.

Our cats will happily use one of those corrugated cardboard scratching blocks whenever they have the urge.

Best wishes to all fellow cat people...

Maya :luv:

No worries here. I'm a vet assistant, knows everything from A to B about behavior to surgeries. I promise you no incest is going to happen here. No unfixed kitties in my house!

Yup, sounds like typical nursing behaviour.

I just wanna ask,how can I make my other kitty do her bussness on the litter box? she like to do 'it'' in one particular corner all the time! :help:

Whenever she wakes up or she eats, play with her for about 5-10 minutes then put her in the litter box, thats when they usually go. Just show her the right place and normally the smell in it from the other kitten should help.

Also make sure the litter box is in a quiet place, she might be scared of something like a noise ( no laundry machines or refrigerator close by, sometimes it scares them) They dont like perfumes and deodorants either, if you have a Glad Plug-in or anything that vaporises perfume in the air, they are very sensitive to that. Dont clean the litter box with strong cleaning products as it may leave a strong smell in the litter box that makes them go away.

Make sure though that you clean the corner where she is not supposed to go with products meant to destroy animal odors, regular products may leave an odor that only the cat will smell and may attracts the cat to go back there.

Finally if these dont work she might just not like the substrate in the litter box, try a different brand of litter ( and Avoid clumping litter they are too young for that yet)

 Good luck Luzy!

Never tried soft claws but considering it...

I have another kitten question (sorry OP!) My kitten (4.5 months) has this sort of weird habit where any time I sit down or lie down he crawls to my neck and does his "vampire kitten" routine, where he licks my neck and alternately flexes each paw with claws out (so it's not quite kneading) and scratches me. I can't sleep with the door open anymore because of his random vampire kitten attacks all night. I don't want to make him think it's bad to give affection, but I can't get him to take affection in any other way. He has to be purring and licking my neck. Eeww

Yup, we had a kitten that did that once. Our vet said it happens sometimes when kittens are weaned to early. When doing the claw thing, he is actually trying to stimulate mammary glands for milk excretion. Sometimes it takes a while to grow out of it.

Happy

Jayke
