No, they have to submit financial information of themselves and their household members for their years before moving to the US, including foreign tax returns.

For adjustment of status the previous 2-3 years household would likely be the foreign household before moving. Unless you wait years to file the AOS.

I don’t think that is true. It states on the i-944 that you must use US credit reports and scores.

it also states you MUST submit transcripts from the IRS.

the IRS is only an American service.

I'm not at my desktop but the actual form stated foreign tax returns if applicable.

"DHS recognizes that not everyone has a credit report in the United States. The absence of an established U.S. credit history would not necessarily be a negative factor when evaluating public charge in the totality of the circumstances. Absent a U.S. credit report or score, USCIS may give positive weight to an alien who can show little to no debt and a history of paying bills timely. An alien may provide evidence of regular and timely payment of bills, and limited balances on credit cards and loans."

1. I dont know if you are just being facetious or obtuse but with these new rule changes will make it much more harder for people who come from certain places to immigrate.

2. This is not about unwashed masses of africans/asians or latin americans getting on boats and coming over without any controls whatsoever, There has already been very controls on who can come over and now they have even been made more stricter. This is telling American citizens that they can not sponsor thier spouses, parents and family if they come from certain places unless you make so much money blah blah.

3. There is NO law that prohibits an immigrant that using welfare benefits that they QUALIFY for. There is already prohibitions of using welfare in the first 5 years of LPR status or until you become a citizen and they were working well.  I don't know how many things this administration has to do for you see that their goal on immigration is to severely curtail it or at least change where people are coming from. If you don't believe me believe Trump, he said it himself - " why don't we have more immigrants from Norway instead of from hole countries?". Everything they have done since taking power has been to make things tougher for immigrants.

The rules are not working well until they start enforcing the affidavit contracts.

"List below all federal tax returns you and your household members listed in Part 2. above have filed within the last three years and attach a copy of the IRS transcripts as provided in the Instructions. If you did not reside in the United States for the given year, and you were not required to file a federal individual income tax return with the United States government, attach your foreign tax return for that year. If you were listed as a dependent on someone else's tax return, provide that person's taxreturn(s), in addition to your own."

Even if so, most countries do not require their citizens to file returns. Hopefully that won’t be an rfe

And if you live in a country that does not file income taxes? Would that be an rfe

Swell then go enforce those contracts. Do not change the rules because you are scared to sue the sponsors. It seems to me the supporters of these changes are of the attitude that I got mine so lets close the door now.

True, enforcing the law, take those pennies back from the sponsor. It stuns me that lots of people here think the new law has nothing to do with race, discrimation,... It likes saying Stephen Miller loves immigrants.

Even if nothing changes, it gives an elite impression.

like you’re applying for some deluxe credit card... don’t have a high score? Or make beacoup bucks? You need not apply.

the sponsors signed the affidavit, they should be responsible for their actions.  But enough of my griping.

I was on board (did not love but could understand) the changes until it started asking for foreign tax transcripts and credit scores.

I guess there will be many exceptions. That's why I sustain confusion will reign at USCIS -as if there wasn't already more than enough-.

Officers will now spend so long checking on assets, tax returns, education, skills, etc.

Sounds like even longer delays, seems intentional tbh

It’s less about waiting times and more about discouragement imo.

do you sell your house, car, quit your job, kiss your family goodbye  to move the United States to just MAYBE you will get an exemption and can stay?
