hi i'm new here and been visiting for months now, just registered though

i have met my bf online, he told me before that i should start processing my papers, but i don't know how... i knew there was a fiance visa, but i thought that it is only done when you have seen each other or that he went to visit me here in the philippines.

the question is: is it possible for him to apply a fiance visa for us even if we haven't met each other yet? if so, what are the chances? i mean like there's no harm in trying right? i wanted to so much as meet him in person... soooo very much... please help..

if k1 visa is not ideal, any suggestions please?

You must have met in person within the past 2 years to qualify for a fiance(e) visa.

He is the one that will have to initiate the paperwork for the visa by submitting a petition I-129F. The petition will be denied if you have not met in person within the past 2 years.

Hi, for your USC fiance to file a K-1, two requirements must be satisfied. First you both must have met in person within two years of filing the petition. There are three options to get over this hurdle, he comes to visit you or you the fiancee travels to US to visit him and the third option is both of you plan to meet in a third country. Also, both of you can legally be married.

Is he your boyfriend or your fiance? The K1 visa is not for boyfriends and girlfriends who want to meet each other in person. The K1 visa is for two people who are engaged to be married. So there's your FIRST requirement.

Then, as mentioned, you MUST have met in person sometime over the past two years. The only exception for that requirement is one created by a cultural or religious prohibition or requirement. So while there is no "harm" in trying, it probably is not an efficient way for you two to meet each other, since it sounds like that is your goal.

How about a tourist visa? Or he visits you there? Or you meet up in a 3d country that you can both get to with less trouble and expense?

I suggest both you and your boyfriend read the I-129F form and its instructions (go to "immigration forms" at www.uscis.gov). You will see that, as of now, you don't qualify for the K1 visa unless you are allowed an exception to the meeting requirement - which is VERY hard to do.

All what I was trying to convey is (a.) that they both must have met each other in person within the last two years and (b.) they are both of legal age to get married and unattached meaning single or divorced. Sorry for the miscommunication.

Yeah, to reiterate what everyone has said, it is a requirement of the petition that you have met within the past two years. The harm in applying would be a wasted $170. Put that money towards a trip to see each other instead!
