Hey guys! I’d like your opinion about something: we got NoA2 on August 9th. We are waiting for our case to be sent/received by NVC.

I want to go spend the holidays with my family and I can get a good price if I book my flights now but I’m trying to figure out if it’s likely I’ll have my interview between Dec 20-Jan 13 (when I want to go).

Right now I’m expecting 1 month until NVC receives our case, 1 more until we have a case number, about 2 for CC, then at least 1-2 before interview. That would bring us to January-February at the very least. Does this seem reasonable for you? Am I missing something?

From the data for Canada it doesn’t look like they do any interview between Dec 20-Jan 20 anyway...

Normally, yes, that is a pretty reasonable timeline, however Montreal is pretty backlogged right now and CR1 cases with CC 4-5 months ago still haven't been given interviews (at least from what I can tell). The backlog will hopefully clear up before we both get there (we got our NOA2 about 2 weeks after you so we'll have pretty similar timelines) but I'm absolutely not expecting to get an interview any earlier than February so you'll likely be safe to book your trip for the holidays!

That’s crazy. Do we know if it’s due to all the student visas that they must be working on during the summer?

The Montreal consulate page on VJ does say that the wait times go up a lot in summer and fall so hopefully it’ll calm down on time for us. From the data, for people being approved in Aug-Oct the end of the process takes about 5-6 months.

No way to know for sure but yeah I'd say student visas and their employees taking summer vacations. Like you said, it's pretty normal for Montreal to slow down in the summer so I'm not too worried (for now 😛). I just looked at your timeline and saw that your PD is one day after ours, so after waiting as long as we have I really hope neither of us have to endure any more delays!

Yes, let’s stay optimistic 😊 for now the data is encouraging. Where in Canada are you?

Checked case tracker earlier 🙈 saw that yesterday there were some approvals for Sept 11th and 12th cases 🙂

How do you enter the numbers on case tracker.

It says Enter the Start receipt number and search count (up to 500) then tap on search.

Can you explain how to do this?

You just take your own case number and change the ending numbers, then search up to 500, because that gives you the most results, then filter by I130 to only see those. I, for instance, always take my case number minus 500 for the first search I run to see if anything had movement on it close to my own case (I am Sept 14, so not that far from what they've been working on), and then keep subtracting at least 500 from my last search for all subsequent ones, because I am obviously most curious about stuff leading up to my own case. 🙂

Today's case tracker search is brought to you by tons of coffee and being stuck in traffic 😉

Haven't searched a lot today yet, but saw some September 13th movement! (approvals and RFE)

(Which means my half-(okay, three quarters lol)-obsessed self will be keeping track of case tracker movement *a lot* over the course of this week and next, having a Sept 14th PD myself *fingercrossed*)
