My husband offers a divorce with the signing of papers (documents) without the participation of a judge
The marriage was short, there was no common property, and I am outside the United States. He offers some money and a refund of my clothes if I sign the papers. by email, a divorce lawyer works with this. I do not know if I should agree to this? Or is it better to wait for an official divorce in a family court, I can’t be at this court because I left for my country.

I also filed VAWA  I don’t know if they will consider it
The most important question .... If The most important question .... If he and the lawyers believe that the court and the judge will not award (precisely for divorce )  , why should I be asked to sign papers so that the court does not exist( there was no trial)   ?

The divorce in the U.S is handled by the family Court .Most States the person doesn’t need to go to the Court when they set up the hearing ,but there is no divorce without a judge granting or denying te divorce petition .

Hi all,

Filing for the kids, what other documents do I require to include with the I-130 and G-1145? What about evidence too?

All responses appreciated.

You need to submit proof of your green card approval, all other documents that you must submit are listed in the l824 form (instructions )

House I am confused on this issue if the marriage is not good and you are no more living with your abuser you still have to wait for 3 years not to get divorce so that you can get your citizen ship this is quite confusing going on please can some one explain clearly.

The person can divorce the abuser anytime after the separation. The person can apply for citizenship 3 years after receiving the GC if the husband is a U.S Citizen or after 5 years if the spouse is a green card holder.

Hello everyone :)

i’ve a question ! I used to get emails from USCIS saying we are reviewing your case and there’s no updates !! It’s been 2 months now and i haven’t haven’t receive any of these emails ..! Anyone here still getting theses emails ?

I believe they have been experiencing system glitch lately...everyone has felt it..always check for updates online USCIS site instead of waiting to get notifications! Happened one time to me..didn't get any notification only to check directly to find my approval update!(i360)😊👍

I have read you can apply for citizenship in 3 years if you are still married to the abuser and 5 if you are not. You can also fill your application 3 months prior to the 3 or 5 years. You can always verify this information with @sandranj

The person can file after 3 years if he/she is divorced or not,if the spouse is a U.S Citizen .The 5 years rule is for those who got married to a green card holder ok.

When can I apply for Citizenship having just gotten approved for my Green Card under Vawa 2 days ago and my priority date was 08/05/2016?

If your spouse (or ex) is a U.S Citizen you can apply after 3 years .
