Hi all

My wife and I are reviewing, reading..cramming? For our AOS interview (test?) this Thursday. We're totally confident one moment then confused the next.

Some of our concerns, anyone care to offer their input...:

1. The NOA I-797C is for our I-485 AOS. Its has a long list of checkboxes. The first check box makes mention of this I-693 form. My wife seems to think it was part of her K1 sealed envelope, but I think the sealed envelope being mentioned is the one a civil surgeon gives to you. Does it take a long time for the civil surgeon to transcribe the vaccinations to the 693? Do we need to bring this I-693 form to the interview, or if we don't have it, will they RFE us on the spot for the 693?

2. The rest of the checkboxes show documentation we already submitted with the K1 visa. Including the Affidavit of Support (notorized), W2s, birth cerftificates, police records, income taxes..Do we need to bring this stuff again? We thought it was sealed in the envelope she came to the USA with?? For the most part, other then some 'proof of relationship', we were thinking we'd go more or less empty handed..and that's making me crazy...depending on the gov't to have its act together? The checklist is basically the same list given for submitting the AOS I 485..?

3. We filed the EAD with the AOS, at this interview, will she get the I551 stamp? Does this allow her to work? Do we have to wait month for the EAD 'approval' card? She's half with thru the CA DMV, and they asked to see this stamp.

4. The first part of this form says in bold: Failure to bring the interview letter and/or the requested documentation will result in denial of the application..?? This really happens? We've submitted at least 30 pages of documentation and they'd still just cancel the whole thing right there?? Man, I hope they dont pull out a big red 'denied' stamp..I swear I'll go nutz..lol

5. Does the security check from the FBI delay the whole thing? If you're going thru the FBI check (some said it can take upwards of 2 years) can you still ge the work permit?

This whole process is such a utter craptastic process..I've never been so ran around with horrible documentation/rules, inefficiency and just outright poor gov't service. You'd almost have to give the nod to illegal immigration, seems that's the way to do it..almost no reason to be legit, other then to get your chain jerked..

Anyhow..my frustrations/stress goes up and down with this whole thing..we're totally hanging on, but phew..I think going back to brazil is almost sounding like the better option..

You need to take the originals of everything that you sent with the AOS packet, along with your evidence of shared life, Joint back accounts, car insurance, health insurance, mortgage or lease papers, beneficiary to 401k's, utilitiy bills, letters address to you both and any photo's showing your life together...

You should have submitted form I-693A (vaccination Supplement) with your AOS packet, this is done be a Civil Surgeon here in the US and is given in a sealed envelope..

The only way to find out if all the FBI check have been done is to ask.... you will not be approved if they have not been done... but if they are still uotstanding at interview then yes you can still get an EAD...

Most Local offices no longer give the I-551 stamp as the greencard usually arrives with a few weeks.... but you can always ask.

It is very unlikely that you would be denied on the spot.... if you are missing anything the interviewing officer want they will give you a RFE to submit that evidence...

Good Luck

Kez
