hi to everyone

my husband's interview is on aug 28, 2007 at islamabad, pakistan.

the problem is that he works and lives in Abu Dhabi, UAE for over 5 - 6 yrs and working for the defense. I asked for a file transfer from Abu Dhabi US embassy they said "NO BECAUSE HE IS FRM PAKISTAN AND ITS A K- 3 VISA + YOUR MARRIAGE TOOK PLACE IN PAKISTAN" So now he has to make extra arrangments from his work to take time off and go to pakistan get the medical done and police certificate from both locations.

Now my questions is: Does anyone know if the US embassy in Islamabad keeps the passport for visa issuance or do they mail the visa or I know they can stamp but will not because its a man appplying for visa so they have to time for secuirty clearance. The reason why I'am asking this question is because my husband will return to abu dhbai on sep 5 2007 and of course for re entry he needs his passport with residence visa.

one more question: does anyone have any Idea where hotels near the emabssy are n cost etc never been to Islamabad so pls help

Its so stupid because we live 5 mins away from the US embassy in Abu Dhabi, UAE. but we have to go to Islamabad embassy :(

ok

thanks

my husband's interview was in Amman and they kept the passport. It seems from reading other people's posts that majority does keep the passport. Each embassy is different though but that does seem to be the norm. The rest I am not sure of.

I hope everything works out for you both!!

It's not stupid of the US embassy but of the Country he lives in not to give him any kind of residence status even after working and living there for 6 yrs.

However, at the interview you can request to keep your passport and they have no problem with that as my cousin did the same, they will call your husband when AP is complete to come to the Islamabad embassy to give the passport though.

When visiting the Consular Section, you must park your car at the Convention Center parking lot located off Constitution Avenue (across from the Serena Hotel). The Diplomatic Shuttle will transport you from the Convention Center to the Consular Section.
