My fiance is concerned about being able to contact me while traveling to the US from the Philippines is there such a thing as an international load that you purchase for your cell phone?

WiFi is available everywhere,  just use FB messenger or something like Viber

YMMV

You Still need a load in order to sign on to WiFi.

As suggested use FB messeger, VIBER or such  over free WIFI at the airport

That was an assumption on my part from multiple hours of communication with my fiance.

This is a prepaid phone?

I

My assumption is that all phones in the Philippines are prepaid but I all I know is you have to purchase loads to use your phone there.

Cellular service is different from wifi....they are completely different functions......my wife has not had cellular service on her phone outside her country, but she keeps in constant verbal communication with her friends in Taiwan via Line and Messenger using wifi.

We used to buy refills before traveling just on principle and you should make sure she has access to cell in event she really needs it.

Right now I am sending this post in airplane mode with wifi on.

That’s how we travel.  No possible need of cellular data.  I can watsapp call anyone on my contacts list right now in airplane mode without activating the Sim.

You can load up her cell phone with load before she leaves to make calls here to you. But be advised the load will go very quickly.
