Personal info on whom? The Petitioner? The beneficiary? Someone else?

And had the info they're asking for now already been supplied to them on either the original 129f or DS-160?

First.. I would make sure of the authenticity of the email to verify that it is not a phishing attempt.

Second.. I would check the status of the visa on the ceac site to see if it's already been issued.

It came from the right email Montreal, NIV <Montreal-NIV@state.gov>, so does not appear to be any phishing attempt.

and as soon as the information was submitted we got another email from Montreal embassy the general that we had received in the past.

The information is of the Beneficiary.

Hi,

I am confused on how things for someone who’s on work permit in Canada, do they receive packet 3 in the mail or request to provide their status in Canada before packet 3 is sent to the fiancé.

it’ll be great if someone can reply this as I’ll be going through this pretty soon here in Canada.

thanks

Hello,

If you did not attach a copy of our work permit in the original 129F to show your Canada immigration status, than they will request for it.

You will be requested of immigration status such as copy of your work permit once the Montreal US Consulate receives your file from NVC, we were sent an mail to the Beneficiary address.

But since my Fiancé had moved, we did not know we were sent the request.

We found out after submitting the Packet 3 via email (which I never received the Packet 3, we took it upon ourselves and waited two week after NVC sends the file and submitted the packet 3).

If you review the thread not everyone received Packet 3, after the NVC sends file to the US Consulate Montreal, it be good to take it upon yourself and fill out DS160 and send the Packet 3 to the email.

I hope this helps.

Visa is valid for 6months and you can enter the US from the day you get a hold of your visa until the last day it is valid. Your decision when to enter the US. Can't leave though until you get the GC or AP approval.

How do we know if we got the GC or AP approval is there an additional email or notification?

AS soon as consulate received your doc from NVC, they will send you e-mail or regular mail for asking proof of status in Canada.. once they receive those doc from you, it would take 1 week approx for process. if everything is fine, they would send you pac-3 in e-mail/regular mail.

So we sent in the final piece of paperwork and fiancés passport and it was received on the 19th. I know they say it can take 6-8 weeks but anybody else have this issue as well and does it actually take that long. With needing to submit paperwork for final approval? Also how do you keep track of the status? Hoping someone has answers, I’ve been using the ais site

Thank you for your reply, another question is when did you had your interview and when tracking the case on ceac website should I select immigrant visa or non immigrant visa link?

As per my previous post on supplemental questionnaire.

It is the DS-5535 that was enforced in 2017 by Trump as extra security measures.

As I have been reading up on it, it seems there is no indefinite timeline for the process.

If anyone knows anyone r/t this process please share.

I am surprised my Fiancé has to go through the D-5535 since he is India citizen. But guessing it could be that he has a Master's Mechanical Engineering.

It applies to some people from Mexico or countries in middle eastern or India but not all receive this as what I read. It could take up to 2-4 weeks for them to get back the security clearance before issuing the visa. What email and questions your fiancé received after his interview?

Below is the exact email except I removed personal info... Do you really think it would only take 2-4 weeks, I am finding threads that people are waiting forever over 12 months and plus.

From: Montreal, NIV <Montreal-NIV@state.gov>
Date: Mon, 23 Dec 2019 at 8:31 AM
Subject: DS160 app # (removed personal info)
To: (my fiancé email - removed)

(I removed name)

My Canadian husband has only the birth certificate card, and that is we uploaded to NVC. Has any Canadian run into problems with that? We are applying for the longer form with parental information but have already submitted all docs to NVC. Is it possible to attach a note of explanation after we already submitted, or can we still upload it when it arrives, and keep our place in line?

Hello Everyone,

I have my appointment next week on December 18th. Due to the lengthy wait time we all experienced, I had to renew my passport to meet the validity period (6 months). I did, however, request and receive my old passport along with my new one which would meet the requirements. Have any of you experienced this previously? Advice would be much appreciated as I have already emailed Montreal without much insight into what should be done.

Thanks

Hello, what were the results of your interview on the 18th.

My fiancé ended up under AP with DS5535.

Hello,

quick timeline:

12-18-19: Interview. Approved. Passport was kept. No 221g given or anything.

12-19-19: Immigrant visa changed to non-immigrant visa as below image.

12-23-19: email by Montreal for DS5535 - Sent back same date. But did not see any change to CASE LAST UPDATED on below image.

Mine looks like below, does yours look the same.

I'm just wondering with the holidays if it caused a delay or the DS5535 causing delay?
