Interview occurred at 730 yesterday (Wednesday). Yup, I was the one who had to run to Eaton Centre to find a locker as they could not safely store my son’s iPad.

besides that, everything went great. Had all my docs. Lady that interviewed us was very very nice. All in all, took about an hour. Now just trying to figure out how to track my status/delivery. Currently still says “status: appointment” on the www.ais..... website.

Now we know folks that they can't store iPads. LOL

Check the ceac website for status. Once issued, go to ais website to see the tracking number. Once ready for pickup, canada post will send u an email unless you requested premium shipping.

Yes! And it was an iPad mini at that!

CEAC still says Application received. Also says to check back in 2 business days.

Also, if you are bringing children, it is IMPERATIVE that you have a legal doc from the other parent granting permission for them to move. The lady mentioned to me that many ppl don’t get one and can potentially be denied due to that fact.

what a journey this had all been!!

Well done and congratulations! Your timeline is a model of efficiency.

One question please.. from looking at your timeline and notes I cannot tell if you had actually received a Packet 3 before sending in your Packet 3 response. It looks more like you probably sent it in as soon as you got the 2nd "Ready". Is that correct? And if so, did you actually ever receive a Packet 3?.. as email or letter?

Thanks and best wishes for your new life in the U.S.

Thanks so much! I sent in P3 after the second ready, and then received it in the mail about a week or so after. It was just an instruction sheet and my approved I-129F.

Hello,

I finally received Packet 4, I am attaching some of the details to ensure this is what is need for my Fiancé to be able to schedule an interview, medical examination and at the day of interview. I have few questions.

Interview date: December 18, 2019. Yayyyyyyy. We had booked this back in October and were fortunate that Montreal did not cancel. Maybe due to our approval letter VALIDITY until end of the year.

-------SEE ATTACHMENT FOR PICS

Q1. Should I be worried that Montreal still is showing old mailing address for my fiancé?

Q2. Do I need the original Packet 4, because that would have been sent to my Fiancé's old address and won’t make it until after interview to his new address.

-------SEE ATTACHMENT FOR PICS

Q3. I was born in India and my original birth certificate was translated to English, does my Fiancé need either originals or just copies?

Q4. My Fiancé is traveling back to Canada on December 3rd, and I am unsure if that is enough time to get Police certificate with fingerprints – any advice for those that have had interviews were you asked just the certificate or fingerprints or both?

Q5. For Domicile in the US - I am sending him copy of my US citizenship certificate and copies of passport the front and last page? Anything else? Do I need to send the original certificate of citizenship?

-------SEE ATTACHMENT FOR PICS

Q6. I know at the bottom it says Packet 4 but just confirming it this is it. This was sent in our email. Do we need the original they will mail?

Q7. This is related to the original 129F application, do I need the pictures that were sent originally or it can be any pics of our engagement. Because I do not remember exactly what pictures I sent. Do I need anything that was sent originally with 129F?

My fiancé has these items to show proof of our relationship:

  • Photo album of engagement

  • Photo album of our meeting in June and July

  • Our chats on phone

  • Our emails chats

  • And 4x6 pics of engagement ceremony, meetings in June/ July and our gathering pics of us in India at his house in October. ---we did this on top of album in case they want to keep the pics for evidence.

  • Receipt of engagement rings, engagement hall and photographer.

  • Receipt of flight reservation for our initial meeting-engagement-India trip, hotel and car rental and food receipts.

  • Also will send him receipt of my wedding outfit and jewelry as I did my wedding shopping in India.

  • Letter from the temple for booking of our wedding religiously and for reception etc will wait until after the visa.

  • Affidavit from my Fiancé side that attended the engagement.

THOSE THAT HAVE HAD THE INTERVIEWS PLEASE ADVICE IF I NEED ANYTHING ELSE OR ANY ADVICE IS WELCOME.VISA JOURNEY.pdf

you were able to book the interview without the packet 4? nice but sneaky! hehehehe

q1 - dont be worried. but go to the new address obviously. hehehehe

q2 - never received packet 4 via regular mail. only email. just print it off and bring it to the interview. was never asked to provide.

q3 - originals and copies of birth certificate please, in original language and translated one.

q4 - the fingerprints are only needed to acquire the certificate and you only need the certificate - the certificate does not show fingerprints too. it took mine 10 business days to arrive in my mail after going to the fingerprinting company. some of us here had trouble since some delays of sorts. since dec 3 is just few days away, you have no choice but go straight to a fingerprinting company upon arrival and waiting game begins. hope you have the cert before the interview. for those that are waiting for interview dates, go and get your police certificate right now. it is valid for a year. check it off your list and don't put your fate in the hands of mailing service or RCMP. to the OP, i wonder what stopped you from getting the certificate but it didn't stop you from booking the interview without p4? ;) you can request the certificate overseas too. rcmp website has the instructions.

q5 - domicile was never asked but i brought with me her original citizenship and copy, copy of DL, and copy of passport.

q6 - p4 indeed. refer to q2.

q7 - never asked to provide as well. but i brought what we sent with i-129f and the recent ones.

very important - please print out the proof of payment and the interview confirmation email that was sent out by the consulate. if you have YATRI in your email, print those out. those are needed, asked, and needs to be provided.

hope these help.

My fiancé did get the police certificate from RCMP before leaving for India but it was the one they do background check per name and date of birth. And now I keep reading that applicants are getting one done with fingerprints.

Q1. @wingman23 – when you say go to fingerprint company is that different than going to the RCMP location?

Q2. If anyone has done fingerprint or police certificate in Vancouver area please suggest location.

  • My fiancé will land in Vancouver on Dec 4 and this is the first thing he will be doing before going home. This allows him exactly 8-10 business day to receive it through mail, if postal is open on Saturday’s.

Q3. Since the interview is on Dec 18, I suggested to my Fiancé to arrive on Dec 16 in Montreal due to snow to avoid delay of flights etc. Any suggestions for hotels that are walking distance from the new location. I don’t want him to risk rental car due to snow etc...

Q4. @wingman23 - what is “YATRI”?

Q5. @wingman23 – interview confirmation is that is printed at the time of booking correct, the consulate does not send a new confirmation or additional emails?

Q6. Packet 4 is just an email not as a PDF or anything, which should be fine?

@wingman23 thank you for your help, you been a really good resource.

Sorry guys about silly questions, with limited time, just want to ensure we have everything and I can get everything situated before he returns from India.

q1 - two different things, fingerprinting company and RCMP. but in both places, you can request the required certificate. you can go directly to RCMP station to get the certificate. or if a fingerprinting company, such as commissionaires, is nearer, then you can go there. please note that RCMP and local police stations are different entities. do not go to your local police station to get the certificate. it should be the RCMP station.

q2 - go to commissionaires.ca and search for vancouver area or using your postal code. commissionaires.ca is a fingerprinting company. i bet there are others that can do the fingerprint and forward it to RCMP. search google for fingerprinting company in your area. i did mine with novel notary here in mississauga, the one nearest to my place. if directly to RCMP, here's the only station in vancouver - http://www.rcmp.gc.ca/detach/en/d/256#University BC

q3 - airbnb - cheaper and there are a lot nearby.

q4 - LOL - this is the start of the subject of the email coming from donotreply@ais.visa-info.com after you paid and scheduled your interview. the subject of the emails are: for the PAYMENT - "Yatri: U.S. DoS Visa system confirmation of successful payment"; and  for the SCHEDULE/APPOINTMENT - "Yatri: U.S. DoS K Visa Application Confirmation (action required)". i printed these two emails to make sure but they only took the payment email confirmation (even though the schedule email showed the payment too).

q5 - refer to q4. no new confirmation or reminder from consulate for your interview.

q6 - p4 is just an email when i received it. never even asked to be presented. but i have a printout.

very welcome. just trying to help as much as i could.

Q3. We had an Airbnb within walking distance, but we chose to take an Uber instead. The Montreal Ubers are very convenient and affordable! When we booked the Airbnb there seemed to be a lot of options and it was quite affordable.

Q6. The email is fine.

Eagerly waiting for my status to change on CEAC - ughhhhhh. Stuck in Montreal and wanting to go home.

the novelty of being in Montreal wore off a while ago. I just want outta here.

Mine hasn't changed either, but it showed that it updated today! Montreal was nice, but I was happy to leave. Are you getting your passports sent to your house/local post?
