We interviewed today and got approved! So exciting! There were a lot of people that did not know about this site that were not very informed and were missing paperwork (such as tax returns) that encountered issues. I am very fortunate to have done research and am thankful for the resources here. It was pretty disturbing to talk to a bunch of other people at the embassy and some of their beliefs about the process.

The embassy gave a laminated sheet listing what documents to have and what order to put them in. Upon approaching the window, they asked for them in a completely different order.

Also, they wanted my Toronto police certificate and they did not want the RCMP... I am not sure why. Maybe because the Toronto police certificate had pretty colors? Very strange but glad we had both.

Did anyone else get the email that the US Consulate address is changing to 1134 Sainte Catherine Ouest? Is anyone else miffed that they booked accommodations closer to Rue Alexandre?

Yes. We have original Nov 8 interview. Everything is booked two wks ago. Theh just notified us yesterday afternoon that it is cancelled due to the move and will reschedule 👊🏽

Hi Congrats! What type of Toronto police check did they accept? Did they changed again? 😕

I don't think they changed anything. I think they just accepted the wrong one because it had pretty colors. Lol

@KartineeKartoons that’s horrible! I just got the email tonight that I will be at the new address and they are no longer allowing people to line up outside the building ahead of their appointment time.

Im November 20, maybe I will see you there!

Indeed horrible for all of us CR/IR1. We waited for almost 5months just to get a letter. And now that everything is booked, they cancel one week prior. They are costing everyone a lot! My husband has booked his trip here as well to be with me even just outside. We cant get any refund and everything. Plus the days off already requested. But... what can we do? 😭

Heartbreaking. I’m so sorry. Prayers that it will all work out and not cause much of a delay. 💞Your situation  makes my Airbnb annoyances seem small 💞

This is awful :( The process is already so expensive and mentally taxing! Hoping everything works out quickly and easy for you!

Thank you. I hope this is the last delay. 🙏🏽

Good luck on the 20th! Our process is almost two yrs now. Petition got approved fast but when our case got to NVC and Montreal, everything slowed down.

Hi @skipperdee - I can't recall if the DS-160 requires the NVC case number, but I recommend checking the great example form on this website.  It helped us very much when filling out the DS-160 and you'll be able to see there what is required.  The Embassy will send you their Packet 3 instructions which will give you the direction to fill out the DS-160 and gather other documents on their checklist to prepare for the interview.  The notice from the NVC and Packet 3 will come very very quickly compared to waiting for the NOA2.  The one thing I recommend applying for early is the Police Certificate through the RCMP.  My fiance's took about 2-3 weeks to receive his and I am very cautious about jumping ahead steps, so we did not complete the Packet 3 until we received the Police Certificate which was an unfortunate delay we didn't expect.  The only requirement about the police certificate timeline is that you received it within a year before your interview.  So getting that early is not skipping any steps in my opinion.  Additionally, it took some time to find an RCMP location that understood what we were looking for.  (Not sure why since he lives about 2 hours from the border but that is neither here nor there).

Anyway!! congrats on the NOA2 for you and @Thrillhouse !!! Mine felt like a dream come true.  You've got some more time to wait, but that is a huge step! Also one more recommendation from what I have learned is if your waiting for an interview is anything like mine, check multiple times every day.  Morning and Afternoon.  We have been trying for a little over three weeks now and we tried first thing in the morning and later in the evening everyday for the first few weeks.  During that time it only opened up one Friday and I had checked that morning, saw nothing and then went back to work.  Later that evening I saw on this forum that dates opened up that day around 10am and then were no longer there around 9pm.  It was just one day in three weeks I heard there were any dates.  So it was very disheartening but now I check almost every hour because I do not want to miss one again.  I might be overdoing but I thought I would just let you know my experience so far and maybe it could help you.

Good

I am little confused about term PCC and criminal record check.. they sounds similar, aren't they?

And is it mandatory to get from RCMP ? Or I can go with regional police I.e toronto police service?

It's mandatory to get RCMP but we got the Toronto one as well. For some reason they did not want RMCP and they took Toronto police check (for some reason, maybe cause it's in color). If you're in Toronto like us, you can go to this place called Red Seal Notary and they took care of the RCMP fingerprinting and we had it within 10 days.

Toronto police check we did online just in case and picked up at the station (no fingerprints on Toronto police check). Guess it's good we did a bunch of stuff just in case. We came very overprepared and they honestly took a lot more paperwork from us than I expected (probably about 100 pages).

Omg I know. It only moved about 10 mins away from original location so I did not see it as that big of an inconvenience. However, could be a major inconvenience for others without transportation. Just another wrench in the masterplan. Lol

Yeah, I submitted it on the first "ready" some people wait until the second, depends on who is checking your case. After submitted give Montreal consulate your case number you get after completing it on the DS-160 website and they give you Packet 4 shortly after.

How can we check this 'ready' status?
