Got green card, now can change SS card?

On the SS card is says With Authorization.

Now... we can go and change that, just show green card?

Is this required, what if we don't go?

The lady at the SSA office told me that that is what we can do - take your approved EAD or GC to the office and they'll issue you a new card.

after getting my GC i went into the SS office and just showed the Greencard to update it..

they give you a receipt and you receive a new SS card within 10 days..they also take your old SS card and shred it

Nothing to it ..just the wait in the office is a pain..

The note will be still on it. Just check out your SSA!!

i had no choice when i handed over my old one she said this will be shredded..i suppose you could go in without it then you could keep it.. im not sure if you have to take it with you .. i just did ..lol

wow they dont know their own policies...im sure i read on their website you can change it when you get authorisation to work..otherwise i wouldn't of done it ..you are entitled 10 cards within a life time...

This is a bunch of bollocks, and they need to get some training on their own policies. GC holders are eligible for an unrestricted SS card.

I would too, but they took it from me
