I don't have OCI yet. I am waiting on the renunciation certificate then I'll be applying for OCI. I tried doing OCI application last week to have it ready and I couldn't get past the first page. It keep saying choose your application center but doesn't give the option. I believe you can still redo your application start filling out the same details when it asks you to continue with your previous app, just say no and continue with new application. The shipping screen is hard to navigate.I emailed CKGS last week regarding a hold and haven't received a response other than auto reply. So I just fixed the form and sent it. The CKGS website needs some work done.

@Jot18 Thanks! I'll probably redo it and start a brand new form as I cannot edit this step. Sorry to hear you're having problems with the OCI page. These guys truly suck! I just cant believe how much they are charging people for such a crappy site and totally wasting our time over something so simple if they only hired the right people to do their site.

@Jot18 Quick question regarding Shipping, I've selected Fedex service $15 both ways from the CKGS. Do I need to send a prepaid envelope or just one envelope with my docs since I bought both services from them? assuming I can print the label online once i've completed everything. Thanks! 🙂

You should have ended up paying $30 total. You don't send need to send labels. You just print the label the ship it. Once it's ready CKGS will print and ship it back.

@Jot18 @Prads thanks for all your help!! I finally received my Renunciation Certificate! I wouldnt have been able to do this if it wasnt for your help!!!

I actually had a quick question on OCI thats if you have gone through the process and if you dont mind advising. Did you notarize any of the documents?  The instructions are so bad I can't figure this out.

@acha yay..congrats! Yes, I've got my oci.  I went to a fedex/ one of those centres who handle multiple shipping options, they've notarize facility for $10 a signature/page. I think it was only one page, Affidavit in Lieu of Originals. Easy.

@Prads. Awesome! Thanks again! 🙂

Hi Thank you all for your posts. It’s really helpful.

have a question regarding family name change to married name during naturalization. I changed my last name from maiden to married name but no change in first name. My naturalization certificate is printed with new last name. I did not get any other document for name change.

Now when I want to apply for Indian citizenship renunciation. They are asking for proof of name change. Not sure how to get that. Any one gone through this situation. Any help is appreciated.

No. My marriage certificate issued in India 18 years back has my maiden name. It is in English though.

Try sending docs with old name and new name. Include a letter explaining the situation and keep fingers crossed. However I believe name has to be same as it is on the Indian passport.
