Birth certificate translated from French?

My husband was born in Montreal, so his birth certificate is in French. NVC accepted his birth certificate without a translation, but according to the Montreal consulate webpage (written in red):

"Any documents that are not in English must be accompanied by a certified English translation."

It seems like they should accept it since French is an official language of Canada, and he was born in the city where the consulate is located, but I don't want anything to go wrong at the interview. I would appreciate any guidance.

You must send a English translation. All consulates are located where there are official foreign languages.

If you or your husband are fluent in French you can translate it into English yourself. My husband translated his own documents from Arabic to English.
