Hi there, did you get your interview in Doha yet ?

Transferred to Turkey.
Interviewed in December 2020

Was given Trump’s super vetting form ds-5535.
From the research Ive done it could take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 years to get an answer.

I dont know how being stuck for an indefinite time is worthy of a congratulations, but thanks.
there are no answers, fairness, or end in sight. Ive seen many ppl on VJ that wait so long that they have to start resubmitting documents and redo their medical.
Just a thought, cause it is difficult to get police documents in Iraq, if you get close to the year mark since the document was approved by NVC you may want to go ahead and get another. So when they ask for it again you wont have another long delay. Another few weeks and we are at a year past Document Qualified at NVC

Our interview was on 01/20 - we transferred and expedited to Amman. AP since then as well, we were handed a questionnaire slightly different from the DS5535 but close enough to assume the same security checks are being done.

Sadly something probably every Iraqi applicant has to go through. But knowing how difficult it is to currently get an interview scheduled, we still have to be grateful to have made it this far.

Hi everyone,

I’m actually frustrated from waiting for Doha-Qatar to open the visitors visa it’s been since March last year and it seems it won’t open soon, so I contacted my Congressman and they send me a form that I have to fill, and I will request to transfer my wife’s Case from Doha to Abu Dhabi , please advise whoever had an interview in UAE recently please let me know if it was faster than other locations because they suggested that I can choose 3 countries in case UAE won’t be able to accept the transferring.

Regards!

I would pick locations based on the ability to travel to the country, which is something the embassies cannot help you with. For countries that you can travel to, you may want to check if the embassy is open, and what DQs they are currently working on.

why?

Our case was assigned to Abu Dhabi - and while Abu Dhabi resumed processing just this month (closed since Covid), UAE issued a visa ban for 13 or so countries in November 2020. Iraq being on of those countries. I know of a girl in Baghdad waiting for her interview there with DQ from March 2020, still not scheduled.

We requested transfer from Abu Dhabi to either Amman, Beirut, or Djibouti. Only Amman accepted, but it’s worth noting that they are also closed currently and only accept expedited cases for interview.

Depending on your DQ date and the limited visa availability for other countries, it may be worth waiting a little longer. Or you try Ankara if travel to Turkey is open, but there you will have to arrive min 14 days before the interview.

@Quarknase I appreciate your response, the problem is no one is answering, I tried to contact the embassy in Abu Dhabi , and Ankara to see if they can accept my wife’s case and how long time to get the interview, these the only options are available for Iraqi passport holders at this time.

We transferred to Amman, have you considered that? Visa to Jordan can be obtained fairly easily. Beirut would also be an option, or Djibouti. Both have declined our transfer request but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

Just double check first if the embassies are open. Also note that - if your case is at NVC - your transfer request needs to be send to NVC via public inquiry form since they have “jurisdiction” while your case is there, and need to inquire with the embassy on your behalf.

If your case is at the embassy already, you can directly reach out to another embassy and cc your current embassy.

@Quarknase I’m really nervous with Amman as I have friend here in VA his wife had been scheduled for March last year and got canceled due COVID until now she didn’t get a new appointment, I checked Beirut they are not processing any immigration visa yet , my case is at the embassy in Doha , in fact we got an interview request in November last year but my wife hold an Iraqi passport and she couldn’t attend , I’ve been monitoring Abu Dhabi group and they seemed to be getting a lot of interviews that’s why I was really interested to contact my Congress man here which his office said we can definitely do that. But I just wanted to see the timeline for the interview request in Abu Dhabi if I transferred.

thanks for your response!

Yay!!! We got notice of approval and to send passport to Embassy. Inshallah everything goes well and get the VISA in the next couple of weeks.

I pray for the rest of the Iraqis on VJ. This is the most stressful and frustrating process.

Abu Dhabi was closed for the longest - when Beirut and Amman were interviewing last September and October, they have been closed. They are currently only scheduling residents of UAE, I know a girl from Iraq with DQ March 2020 that’s still waiting. I wish you all the best. I know how nerve wrecking it is.

Interview was Dec 11, got notice Feb 3. So 54 days.
Not over Until VISA in hand and make it through airport immigration.
only problem, is that when we had interview we had to register a courier pick up place for passport. But we wont be in the same city, so need to change it. The website that you pick your courier wont let me change the pickup location. I have to call and figure that out. If anyone knows how to change it please let me know.

Ours was 01/20 - hopefully we’ll have movement soon 🙏🏽

I’m afraid about that courier part too. They only allow Aramex locations within that country (Jordan for us). When we asked, they said to have it delivered to relatives in Jordan and have them send us the passport to Iraq. Guess what - we don’t have any relatives in Jordan 🤣 we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. Maybe we just fly back there and to the US together.

Have you considered that?
