Case status update to N/A

What does it mean when USCIS updated my case status this afternoon to N/A? The processing dates for the Vermont office keep going up while the office it was originally at (California Service Center) keep going down. They said they transferred it to the Vermont office for the efficiency of the case but I'm already over 9 months now and it's not approved so that doesn't seem to efficient to me.

An I-129F transferred to Vermont is usually due to something popping up on the name (background) checks related to certain criminal activity. That's where they typically handle those types of cases, and would be one explanation for the delay.

Oh I see.  Why would they change my status to N/A, though? It just changed to N/A around like 4 p.m. and then I just received another text from the app showing what it said before the update which was showing the day it was transferred to Vermont Service Center.

Likely a blip in the system. The case tracker is known to be a bit flaky sometimes.

Ok because this happened before to my ex-wife's mom's petition to bring her here, they updated her status to N/A and then within a week it was with NVC.

I'm confused by what you said that past experience is mirrored for future experience. Are you trying to say that because that situation happened before with my ex-wife's mom's petition that it may happen again?

Yes. It currently is mirroring ex mom case. We don't see a lot of changes in how visas are processed.  Just tweaking along the way.

Oh ok thanks because I called the USCIS  right away  this morning and the 1st level officer could only tell me it's still processing so I requested to speak to a 2nd level officer. But why would it mirror her application because her petition was for an immigrant visa not a fiance Visa

I just finished talking to the 2nd level officer and she can only tell me that it's still processing. She said it's possible that it may have already been sent to the NVC but sometimes the system doesn't update on their end right away.

I am but this case has taken over 9 months already. I guess all I can do is wait for an approval.  I was told over a month ago that my case had already been through all the background checks prior to them transferring it to the Vermont office.

USCIS told me this morning that all the service centers can handle cases with past criminal records.

Yes, although Vermont typically only handles certain types of criminal records for an I-129F specifically (AWA is the big one). All other I-129Fs for a fiance are handled at (and remain at) CSC.

It does not mean there is anything wrong either....sometimes 2 people with the same name come up with a hit on the initial checks, so they have to check manually to ensure it's not the same person.
