Is it hot in here, or is it just me?

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

... did you ever consider perhaps the victim's family wants him executed?

Vengeance is not a proper use of the justice system.

punishment is ...

it's public knowledge the punishment for committing crimes ... don't like the punishment, then don't commit the crime

Yes, but when we define the punishment for a crime, we should avoid the desire for vengeance as a consideration. It's uncivilized.

I would want that man to suffer for what he did. Death seems like an easy out to me. And it's certainly not our place to say we're killing in the name of justice.

I don't think it's right for you to insinuate that I don't care about victims and victims' families. That's incredibly unfair and of course not very well thought out.

I agree with Alex. I am very anti capital punishment. However, I do think that today's prisons need to be re thought out to be more punishment orientated rather than "correctional". Death, to me, is an easy way out. I think you should punish them with hard labour, I mean solid, nine hour days of HARD HARD labour. None of this laying around in your cell reading or watching TV.

To me killing someone is wrong, whether it be legally by the state or by someone committing a crime.

while i agree with the hard labor, i'd also state that such should be applied to those that do not commit murder. murders should be removed from the human race by a quick execution. act like a mad dog, get treated like one

9 hours? You softie!

Oh okay, ten then. ;)

Here in America, we have 24 hours in a day.

Dunno how many there are in the UK :P

Not sure, I'll have to get back to you on that one. :P:lol:

I think you double it. Like coverting a Dollar to a Euro.

But what if it turn out that he/she was innocent and didn't do it, yet they'd already been executed? With hard labour you can release them, with the death penalty...well, it's pretty final really.

Sounds reasonable, let me write that one down.

Wait … wild thought …

isn't there a fence to be built? what better use for our tax $$$

sure they can escape ... to mexico ... where there could be a very nice bounty posted as a reward for returned recognizable bodies. That is … if the escaped convict manages to not be “retained for immigration violations” by the mexican authorities :wacko:
