Did you and your spouse read through the previous discussion? Many members had pointed out that the marriage was not legal in the state of Massachusetts. It seems like you chose to ignore the responses on this forum.

Did your spouse talk to an attorney about this and was advised to file?

Also does your spouse file taxes as Married?

Keep in mind that your spouse will be eligible to file for citizenship in another 6 months. The process takes will take 6 - 12.5 months.

Please be patient. Immigration is a long and enduring process. Being from Pakistan will make it slower for you anyway.

An attorney does not guarantee anything. Attorneys get paid irrespective of the outcome. It's always a win-win scenario for them.

I'm curious to know what your attorney says about the legality of your marriage?

Also, I asked if your spouse files taxes as "married" or not.

This is a free forum and people will give all sorts of opinions. You cannot control what others say. You can flag inappropriate posts and the mods will take action. Your post got removed for the same reason.

People are trying to help you. Many times you will not like the answers but that doesn't change the facts of your case.

Additionally, said ;  the online marriage is legal and acceptable in pakistan so this is also a point of hope . Secondly, marriage has been consummated too. Thirdly, refugee person cannot travel to his homeland country because it is unsafe for them. These all are reasons we did online. And we are honest so, we submitted everything from start to end ; these all are facts

Basically, did your spouse file taxes as "Married Filing Jointly" or "Married Filing Separately" as opposed to (improperly) filing taxes as "Single".

I am not sure I understood the first posters position, is this a continuation are a similar case?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

It's the same issue, the OP of the first thread was posting for her friend. the friend is now here posting the same thing.

As I under stand the events is that only the proxy marriage 2016 was registered. (in Pakistan not the State where the USC was present)

Someone earlier in the thread mentioned that the USC lives in a state that does not recognize proxy marriages. So they are not legally married, as he was in the US not in Pakistan. So proxy marriage is basically void.

The wedding in 2018 was nothing but for show they never registered it and possible too late to register now.

No point worrying about filling taxes a married they are not married as it wasn't legal in the State the USC was in at the time.

I don't see this petition going too far before it is noticed.

They need to plan to get married the right way this time and start over.
