My interview at Boston for AOS from a K1 Visa went well.

We had the interview in the morning.

We were very nervous, so we decided to arrive very early but they didnt let us to check in until 30 minutes before the fixed time for the interview.

We went to the cafeteria upstairs and had a nice cup of tea ...

The USCIS  officer asked the petitioner (my husband) to come first for the interview and he asked my husband to handle all the new documents to him.

I waited ten minutes in the waiting room.

I noticed the officers were asking the beneficiary to come before the beneficiary to the office.

Then my husband left the office. Then the officer asked me to come in. I was in his office no more than 10 minutes.

He asked 3 questions to us: 1. where did we meet? (I met my husband in Boston). 2. how did you decided to married? (he proposed in Boston and I told our story), 3. Who made coffee this morning? (He did). I noticed he was checking my answers with my husband´s answers.

Then, he proceeded to ask me all the I485 questions. I made a joke to him.. He asked me: have you kidnapped someone? I said Yes: my husband´s heart. He laugh.

After that, I was very comfortable. He told me on the spot: I will aprove your Green card, and he explained to me about the two conditonal-year and  that I must apply 90 days before the two years deadline for removing conditions.

I was so happy that after I left the officer office I told my husband WE GOT THE GREEN CARD and we kissed and had a hug ....in front of everybody

After that we went to the restaurant where we had our first date, engagement dinner and marriage celebration.

Oh WAIT....

He did ask my husband whether he had a new document to handle, we did provided our joint financial documents etc.

And GUESS what!

He never asked me about the vaccination update.

I just realize that after leaving the building, so I had to return and handle the sealed envelopwith the vaccination information to him and he said never mind.

And GUESS what!

He did ask about current job situation of the petitionary and we explained the situation and he didnt put a lot of weight on that.

While we were walking to our favourite restaurant my husband almost cried.

What a journey!

I checked the USCIS website after leaving the interview, and it said: Card Being Produced.

Relieved! 💞

We both have learnt a lot from this journey indeed.

Still scared and I wont belive it until I have the green card in Hand.

It seems strange that you would need an EAD for a drivers license, is it a prerequisite in the state you're in?  I certainly didn't need one for WA.

In Mass, you can't get a driver's license unless you have an EAD card.

Thank you Lovely Lisa!

I know, I wanted to share my experience because I had a RFIE, i didnt have my vaccination process with the embassy and my husband was laid off just one week before the interview. I think it is good to share the info and let  people know that anything can be expected in this process and that at the end everything will be fine

Today we had our Interview. We are August Fillers. We had our interview in Boston, MA.

Our appointment was at 2:30pm but we arrived early because we were both nervous. We arrived about 1:30pm but was told that we couldn't check in until a half an hour before. We checked in at 2pm.

Once checked in, they called us up to a window for my husband (beneficiary) to get his fingerprints and to take a picture of him. After that was completed, she told us what door to wait near. At about 2:40pm we got called in by my Husband's name (which was strange because everyone else was getting called by a number). I asked if I could join and she said yes.

She had him raise his right hand and swear he was telling the truth. She only went over our i-485 packet about our names, DOB, address, and a few of the yes or no questions (have you committed a crime, prostitution, any arrests, hurting or killing people, espionage, ). She did not ask any other questions and did not ask to see any other documentation besides his passport.

I am the petitioner (USC) and didn't get asked a single  question. I ended up answering one of his and she told me only he can answer. We were done by 2:45pm and she told us she approved us and we should be getting a card in the mail in 2 weeks. At 3pm, I got an Email that a new card was being produced on the USCIS website.

I don't think this is the norm based on reading every other single review of the Boston Office and that she didn't want to see any evidence or ask me any questions. I did see other couples get called in separately though. She just said we will need evidence at our 2 year interview.

Congratulations I’m a Boston filer to and can’t wait experience what you guys experienced today.

Hey, out of curiosity, why is your wife not able to drive? Does she have a license from another country? I did and where I'm from it should be valid here but I also got an international license just in case.

In CA we need an SSN to apply for a driver's license. CA does allow illegals to get a DL without an SSN but my lawyer advised that the DMV may or may not process the DL application given that my wife has a pending case.

Thanks. My question was about a license from another country though. Is that not possible? DMV does not need to be involved. I drove my husband's car here way before we got married... (I have a NY license only valid with my work authorization at the time but basically relied on my foreign one).

Understood. We never asked our lawyer if my wife could drive with an overseas driver's license. In hindsight, we could have probably pushed for it but we didn't think it would take this long. Plus, having a single earner (me) is difficult as is and having a second car would place additional pressure.

I don't see why the lawyer should be consulted on this... just check her license from her country is valid here or could be made international. She could at least have the option to drive your car if needed.
