is this an expedite case?

anyone know if i need EAD to get driving license in CALIFORNIA?

it is not an expedited case.

Even if you get a DL it will expire according to your I-94.

I would wait until you get your EAD approved and greencard on hand.

Once you have your cased approved and greencard on hand you can work, drive and travel.

great! i didn’t expect to see the status change. i thought the case would only be touched next mar-apr! does it mean i can start to check my mailbox for the interview letter? and expect to get the green card by 2019? wow~

Today my case was changed to RFE. Obviously I don't know why yet, but I'm pretty sure we're gonna need a co-sponsor because last year's tax records weren't super pretty even though now my husband has a really good pay and everything. Oh well ... We know who to ask so I'm not too stressed out about it ! At least it means they're working on our case 😊

you need to have an interview first. case ready to be scheduled does not mean anything. After interview once case is approved then you will receive your GC until then it is  waiting game.

looks like it’s around a 6-12 month wait from here for interviews though. Don’t get ahead of yourself people.

There's people from July who already have their interviews scheduled for end of October/start of November though

Yeah I think it really depends on your field office, they schedule the interviews. Some move faster than others depending on their backlog

You need an EAD (or green card) to get a regular (and RealID compliant) driver's license in CA (also, your social security card needs to be in the same name as your EAD or GC).

You can get the designed-for-illegal immigrants AB60 license without it.

That will give you a processing time range and a "Receipt date for a case inquiry". The "Receipt date for a case inquiry" is not when they are working now, it's the latest date that's officially outside of normal processing times. And the processing time range is from when they expect ~50% of cases to be acted on to when they expect ~90% of cases to be acted on.

To give an example here - at the San Diego field office, the "Receipt date for a case inquiry" is Feb 10, 2018 as I type this. Our NOA1 date was April 11, 2019, but our interview was September 25 (a month less than the lower end of the 6.5-20.5 month range listed for family-based AOS) and Anastasia has had her green card since October 2.

Hi, i’m from SD also i just want to know how long did it take “from Ready to be scheduled to Interview Scheduled” here in SD filed office? still waiting for my interview schedule, thank you!

Our RFE arrived on Saturday and my response should be at Lee's Summit tomorrow by the end of the day. As the RFE was for my son's I-864 I am faithfully checking my own case at the new website because I feel they might want me to adjust my own (normally we should have filed two identical in two separate files, but who knew then). But so far so good, my case stays at Fingerprints Review Completed. Not that the RFE by itself is a bad thing but the delay certainly is taken in mind there will hardly be an interview for us in 1 1/2 years

I don't remember exactly. I believe we flipped to "ready to be scheduled" about a week after biometrics in mid-May, and the interview was scheduled in mid to late August.

Which would make it a little over 3 months.

I know alreay why they sent me a REF.

They lost my birth certificate and traslation and they are asking for this document.

GREAT.  Thank you US Goverment.

Now I just need to request my BC and traslate it and this will take one month. Thank you US government.
