Did you have to make an appointment for him to apply for his driver's license or did you just walk into the DMV? We were told to come back to apply for the license when he receives his 797 letter, but I'm hoping he can just walk in and not wait a month or two for an appointment.

In California you can apply for an AB60 drivers license before you AOS if your i94 has expired. You only need to provide A passport and proof of residency e.g. electric bill. If your i94 hasn't expired you can get a real I.D. driver's license with proof of residency, passport and SS card. You can apply for a SS card while you i94 is valid and before you marry if you like.

Thank you @John951. His k1 hasn't expired yet and he has his social security card, so we're hoping to get his regular driver's license/driving permit as soon as we get the i797 for his i485. When we went to the DMV they said they can extend the expiration date of his regular driver's license past the expiration of his k1 as long as we bring the i797. Fingers crossed!

Had biometrics done on the 16th September. Status changed on the 17th September saying fingerprints review was completed and now today it says on the 25th September fingerprints review was completed. Not sure if every week it will keep getting updated or they reviewed it again.

You fill out two different forms. (I-485 for AOS, I-765 for work permit). If you submit them together, the AOS fee includes the work permit (AKA EAD) application fee. Don't forget to include supplement documents for I-765!

You have to include Vaccination Document (DS-3025) along with your application. See the very first page of this thread, and you will see what documents you need to put in to your package along with the applications. If your DS-3025 was issued more than a year ago, I think you have to get a medical examination and obtain i-693? I could be wrong ;)

Yeah we got his ssn before we got married and before did all the paper works for adjustment of status and work auth. Just go to the nearest ssn and bring the requirements such as I-94, passport, and idk what else. It is actually better to get it after you changed your last name so you dont have to go there twice.

So if it got married already should I do that or since I applied for work authorization they will take care of that? Coz I remember there was sentence in that form when applied for work document , like if I also would like to get SSN

Getting married is not necessary for and does not affect applying for SSN. I've applied right upon arrival and certainly before getting married and got it in 4 weeks. I needed it to open a bank account, get my learners permit and hopefully drivers license soon, to get added to my husband's insurance plan. We have an issue now that they wouldn't add my minor son, because SSA refused to give him a SSN and they wouldn't add anyone who doesn't have it. If you don't need all that stuff right now or anytime soon, you may rest assured that you will get it along with your EAD/AP combo card.
