Yes you can take the phone inside and turn it off when you go inside the room ,do not try to take a call inside the place i saw a security guy take a woman outside because he told her twice stop making call inside and she didnt stop i dont know if she didnt understand english or what ,get there as early as posible there was a big line when we got there, its first come first serve

Think so. But not that fast, you've got to get learner permit first. EAD only serves as a federal ID, if you are good through the point system without it, you are good to apply for a permit. Namely you need foreign passport with I-94, SSN, a utility bill and a bank statement. Also a card to pay the fee right on the spot.

For local commute I carry my NYC ID with me at all times. Passport with even valid I-94 stamp kind of scares people off.

We went yesterday for drivers license (learners permit) for my wife, but they refused, since her I-94 expired. So, they said we cannot do anything even for her to take the test. The DMV person said that if you would have filed earlier itself before the expiry it would have been in the system and we could have then understood ok it is in process, but since it has expired there is no way we could even enter her details for her to take a test for learners. So, we left and came back. We will have to wait till she gets her greencard.

You can use your EAD to get it :D You don't need to wait until you get your greencard.

AOS + Employment Authorization + Advanced Parole sent on August 14th.

NOA for all 3 received on August 16th.

Biometrics appt was September 13th for AOS and Employment Authorization.

Status changed to fingerprint review complete on September 14th.

Just an FYI to people on this forum. There is NO application fee for the employment authorization and advanced parole documents when you send it in with an AOS application or when you have a pending AOS application. So unfortunately, a nice few of you paid $565 extra for no reason.

Filing fee of $535 is for I-130. Filing fee + biometrics of $1,125 for I-485.

Don't think anybody paid anything other than was necessary, no?

A few days in our case. Maybe a week, I never cared to check. We had biometrics on 09/04 and the notice is like, we have completed reviewing your fingerprints on 09/05.

I just managed to jump on a last car in the train and passed my Drivers Manual test today (note I-94 expiring tomorrow). After answering the last question the screen went blank and the staff discussed the situation for a few minutes and requested me to complete the test at another desk. Then all went well again until the lady at the payment desk asked me for my marriage certificate which was absolutely not mentioned on the DMV website. Had to go home and pick it up. But finally expecting my learner permit in the mail. Really wish I'd looked at it and applied as soon as my SSN arrived.
