Hi guys,

For someone who is entering into US through a immigrant visa, can we land in any international airport other than LAX?

I heard the immigration line in LAX is crazy, so I'm considering switching to Ontario International Airport.

Thank you!

You can enter through any international airport,  no matter where you are heading to in the US after that....  with the introduction of many automated CBP lanes , many large airports are a lot more efficient than they have previously been. If you take a look at the POE reviews you can get a sense of current entries and what people have experienced

Probably better to enter via ONT. The lines at LAX are long.... Ont is much smaller

My final destination would be LA, so Ontario will be my first and last stop.

not sure why first and last as you need to continue onto to La and show that to the immigration officer

Ontario is a long way from LA

anyway ,   Ontario does customs and immigration for the US

I have never had any issues with LAX, especially not when I arrived on my K-1 (wasn't even taken to secondary or anything, got two questions and then I was through). I guess the length of the lines depends on how many planes landed at the same time.

K-1: 12-22-2015 - 09-07-2016

AP: 12-20-2016 - 04-07-2017

AOS: 12-20-2016 - 07-26-2017

ROC: 04-22-2019 - 04-22-2020
Naturalization: 05-01-2020 - 03-16-2021

U.S. passport: 03-30-2021 - 05-08-2021

Me and my fiancee at the time came thru LAX in less than 20 minutes. You can check the full review in my timeline on the POE, but LAX is plenty fast when arriving via international. I have come thru there at least 30 times in the last 5-6 years, and never took more than 30 min.( normally less than 15) Has there been times it has taken a few hours, I am sure it has, but another thing to consider is that LAX or a big airport is very familiar with K1 entrants at POE, you end up a Po-dunk international in the middle of Iowa you might have to wait 8 hours for a supervisor to drive in from home to actually process your K1.

Note: No disrespect to Iowa in any way, I was there for the Sports illustrated Swimsuit issue photo shoot many years ago, and those corn fields looked good to me! LOL

Former Valley girl here. You need to ask yourself this question: is less time and aggravation at Ontario (potentially) than at LAX worth more than driving from Ontario to LA if that's your final destination? If your flight gets in around rush hour, the 10 West can be a total parking lot. (Not to mention having to drive there to pick up the inbound passenger...) You may end up spending more time driving back to LA than it would have taken you to fly to LAX and drive from there.

Just a thought!
