Hello. How do you get prepared as far as uploading docs on NVC stage? Please give me some insight of the organizational part of it. I heard u have to get it to 2mb. How did you get prepared with the uploads. I pretty much have an idea but my head is all over the place right now and I feel unorganized. Please advise.

I used this link.

When was your original submission? I’ve also seen that the wait for approval after resubmission most of the time is shorter than another 3 weeks, so I hope that is the same for you!

I submitted my 2018 Wage and Income transcript along with my 2018 tax return. My taxes were approved the week after I submitted everything so those were my only options. I’m curious though if they will use the wage and income transcript in place of the w2, or if they will still come back asking for it. I can submit more documents now, but ideally didn’t want to start the clock over. Does anyone have any information or suggestions?

thanks in advance.

July 21. Notice from NVC 16 days later.

Yea because only the most recent transcript was submitted. This sucks but at least all other docs were submitted. *shrugs*

* all other docs were accepted

Hi!

I downloaded the free adobe acrobat pro trial, here is a link: https://acrobat.adobe.com/ca/en/free-trial-download.html

You have to input your credit card, but you can cancel with no charge to your card within an X amount of days.

For the most part, your files should originally be under 2mb, but in the event they are not, you simply open adobe acrobat pro, select the file you are wishing to resize, click save as other... , then click resize file. Keep the settings the same, just resize the file and and save it. Whatever you do, DO NOT use an online file resizer, you are uploading SENSITIVE and confidential information on an insecure website. Someone can easily steal that information and manipulate it however they want. You'll be much safer with a highly trusted application like Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Honestly, the guides on here are somewhat useful, but they are also super outdated.

Here is a guide directly from the NVC website:
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/collect-and-submit-forms-and-documents-to-the-nvc/step-5-collect-supporting-documents.html

The applicant in your case will need a police certificate from each country they have lived in for more than 6 months, here is a link to look up which country the applicant has either stayed or current stays in, and what specific police clearance they need, as well as all other document types they may require as well.: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country.html

Your applicant will need 2, 2x2 US standard passport photos to upload. This is still required by the NVC, the guide on here is incorrect.

Start doing research on what type of Affidavit of Support form the sponsor(s) is/are eligible to file. Here is a link to that criteria, as well as all other evidence you need to provide (scroll down and click Obtain financial evidence): https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/collect-and-submit-forms-and-documents-to-the-nvc/step-4-collect-financial-documents.html

One major thing: If your sponsor(s) have filed their taxes "Married filed jointly" they MUST upload a copy of their w-2's that correspond with each year of their IRS tax transcripts or tax returns. Yes, even if you upload your IRS tax transcripts, it seems that the NVC still requires w-2's if the either the sponsor, joint sponsor, etc. filed their taxes as married filed jointly. So be ready for that, just in case.

I have to call irs. I filed married filing jointly but my husband is in his country and never been to the US. I completed the w7 so he can get an itin but later received a notice saying w7 form is not correct. I never called them back so I don’t know if they made adjustments to the filing status.
