Maybe you should call them...

I have tried. I did 10 calls in a row to them this morning around 8:20 am hoping to get a dial tone. Instead I just kept the dreaded recording that hangs up on you after. I am setting an alarm for 6 am Central so I can be among the first for the 7 am Eastern opening time.

Okay y'all 1 hour and 25 minutes later, I got ahold of a human at the NVC. She of course was only able to tell me that nothing was wrong with our case. And that they are looking at documents received before July 15th. (Our resubmitted document was sent in July 29th). Of course, no explanation as to why it took 3 weeks to review and approve all other documents the first time, but now it's taking upwards of 4-6 weeks to check if ONE passport is okay.

One of my greatest life mysteries has been why some people's paperwork gets approved in days at the NVC while other people's take weeks or months? She of course had no answer for that either. But at least nothing is wrong with our case. Cheers!

Maybe you should ask for supervisor review,a lot of people here did and they got DQ after some days.

It would be nice to know why, did they request an expedite? Are they associated with the military? Did the person just like their name? Did they not have a lot of documents to review? etc.

We're talking a week to 10 day reviews versus 4 weeks+ for some others.

I don't think you can just request a review without reason but in this case give he's 3 weeks it might be worth while.

I called the NVC on Wednesday and was told the average time is now 4 week but they're trying to get it back to 3 weeks.

Oh yes, you are missing:
- Beneficiary's birth certificate.

- Petitioner's proof of American status.
- Petitioner's proof of domicile
- If you have a sponsor other than the petitioner: Any additional sponsor's proof of American status and domicile. And proof of the sponsor's relationship with the petitioner/beneficiary.

Good luck.

I didn't see such docs being officially requested in my NVC account. Aren't they optional? After all, you provide your American address and pay stubs + they already have a document establishing your American status since you had to mail one with your petition.

This is a screenshot from the checklist that I received from NVC. But I had to send my documents via Email, I didn't have to upload anything.

On the other hand this is a link to the official website that has all the documents that you are supposed to provide:
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/interview/interview-prepare/required-documents.html

The link includes this text, under the title (Family-based visa applications):
- Proof of the U.S. petitioner’s status and domicile in the United States (photocopy of a U.S. passport, naturalization certificate, or legal permanent resident card).

Please click on the link and scroll down to see it :)

Good luck again.

I understand. The link you provided is for the visa interview. I believe each embassy sends a list with the required printed documents you need to bring.

But when you upload in CEAC, they clearly state what documents they want you to upload and there's designated slots for each document. There's no proof of domicile or status of the petitioner, that I see. You can add it as optional document though, hence my comment.

I didn't upload any proof and I'm 2 weeks in into waiting for review. I will let you know whether they ask for any additional documents :)

In my case they were requested to be sent, in the checklist that I posted a screenshot from. NVC sent this checklist to me so I stuck to it.

Anyway good luck, and hopefully they wouldn't give you RFE for it. It might be optional if they never mentioned it to you, since you uploaded docs instead of sending them via Email. but like I said in my case it was part of the checklist.

Salam Guys,

We submitted all documents ( both Civil and AOs) on 12th August, and just got RFE says as below:

I-864 Form:

All pages of the I-864 must be submitted even if they are blank. Please replace this form with all the pages.

Police Certificate:

Part of this document is missing in the scan. Please replace this with a scan that shows the complete text of the document.

But they were complete in the scan, i don't understand why they are rejecting!- so should i just resubmit them or what? please advice, thanks.

Would like to ask, Also my police certificate from Ethiopia issued back in April- and i think it expires in 6 months, so should it be valid at the time of my interview or until the documents are qualified at NVC level?

Ugh, that's annoying. What have they complained about with the tax doc?

our lawyer told us the first time it was because they uploaded it the wrong way, then the next time apparently the lawyer sent in "too much" tax stuff of my husbands and then the next time our lawyer just said they "didnt know" why it got rejected for the 3rd time. We actually got another RFE response last night at 10pm pst for again the same tax document, so we are on our 4th RFE and our lawyer doesnt know why nor will tell us why.

insanely frustrating.
