Sometimes it's not about the time but when you know and it feel that he/she is THE ONE.

I've been in long relationships and never felt THE ONE and with my current fiance I felt he is THE ONE after a short time.

We knew each other for about 8 months before we met in person and out of those 8 months for about 5 we were JUST FRIENDS ( and he had a gf that he was planning to break up with but only waited for the right moment)

Now we know each other for exatly 1 year but only 6-7 months since we're together as a couple and I couldn't be happier. Of course no one is perfect and sometimes I don't like certain things but it's only now that i chose to accept the fact that he's not perfect and so am I. In my previous relationships i never wanted to accept any faults about a person and I guess because i never felt so strong about them as I feel about my fiance now.

So it's really not about a time but what you feel inside.

In your situation you know for sure he's not using you for documents because he's the USC and you don't have to have your doubts why he proposed so fast.

For us we met "online" randomly Easter 2006.. we talked daily, msn etc. for 4-5 months, then met... then back & forth for visits until February 2007 we were married (did the visa process in there). We knew when we met each other in person. We'd both been married before, knew exactly what we were looking for, and were both 100% honest about who we were and what we were looking for.

I firmly believe you are looking for someone to commit to.. someone who's heart & life & integrity you can set your affections on. We were what we were both looking for, and love followed, and grows deeper with each day.

We knew of each other because we were on the same messageboard, but didn't relly talk directly until we started IMing in September 05... when we did start IMing we talked every day for several hours....

we started talking about marriage in December, he came over in February 06 and we were more sure we want to get married after that.... we had a private ceremony then, and a legal marriage when I moved in June 06

I know if I heard someone else tell me that things are happening as fast as they did with us, I would be sceptical about it but how much "time" is needed really depends on the people involved...we only spent a week together before me moving but we knew long before that that this is it for both of us...time together only confirmed that...

good luck (F)

hubby and I talked for about 8 months online and over the phone before we met in person.. the last couple of months before we met in person we mainly talked over the phone...

When we finally agreed to meet in person... I knew from the instant I saw him that he was the one I was going to be with for the rest of my life...... and here we are about 5 years later still going strong (L)

He asked me to marry him when he came up to Canada 3 weeks after our first meeting...

Met online Sept 2001,

talked almost every day for 2 years and 1 month

I visited India in Oct 2003, were together for only 12 days. Oh yeah, got engaged on that trip. No surprise though since we already knew we wanted to marry each other from talking for 2 years. Being together just confirmed it.

I filed the K-1 petition in Jan 2004

Sept 18 2004 we were married after he came to the US.

Been married over 2 1/2 years, 3rd anniversary in Sept. :D

My husband and I met online in Sept. 2004. In July 2005 I decided I wanted to meet him in person to see if the relationship would go further. We had begun to talk marriage so I wanted to meet soon to see if he was the "one". I bought my ticket in July for a Dec. trip. I arrived in Egypt on Dec. 28, 2006. I knew immediately that he was indeed the "one". We married in Jan. 2007 and I returned home to start the visa process. I went back for another visit July 2007. After 13 mos. of waiting we were finally reunited May 2, 2007. So to tally up...we knew each other 15 mos. before meeting and marrying. We've been "together" now for nearly 3 yrs.

We both worked at the same international company, him in the US and me in the UK. Both travelled a lot with our work and regularly saw eachother at conferences etc. Professional relationship developed into friendship with more personal emails and less business ones, and friendship developed into love. Dated for nearly 3 years and then he proposed on my birthday last summer.

I met Rob is August 2004, we met face to face in October 2004, I came back to meet his family in February 2005, in June 2005 he went to Venezuela to meet my family and somewhere between my visit to Pittsburgh and his visit to Venezuela, we decided we wanted to get married, so he filed documentation for the K1 visa at the end of June beginning of July. We got approved so fast (Vermont) that my Visa interview was in August. I moved to the US in October 2005, and got married in November 2005, All in all, from the time we met online to the time we married were 13 months of which we were actually together more or less 30 days? But we talked on the phone every single day. We still love each other like the first day if not more (living with the person on a daily basis will do that to you). And even though I thought at some point that this was going to fast, deep in my heart I knew that he was the one. I don’t regret it one bit…

I agree, there are things (reaction to situations) that you need to know about your SO, there are also a lot of things that a person cant fake, there are things that you can pick up when you’re around his friends and family. I don’t know, maybe some of us are risk takers, that doesn’t make us better or worse. And Tracy is right, some times you simply ‘know’.

I have met someone online in October who is from Chicago and he wants to marry me. We talk online every night and I went over there to meet him and his family in February and he met mine when he came over here to England in February. I just wondered how long people knew the people they got married to and how long it took them before they decided to get married.

I met my love February 26th of this year, I knew from his first message to me that he was different and I knew after our first 4 hour online convo that he is the man I am going to marry and spend the rest of my life with!!!

He told me he loved me "Forever & Ever Amen" on March 7th at 12:16am We discussed marriage, life, death, travel, children, family, abortion, religion, adoption, birth control, pretty much covered the bases in the four hour

conversations we had that first week, we have talked on the phone, Skype, and online every day since then!! I love him more every single day and I thank God for bringing him into my life & my heart!!

You really can't apply a standarized timeline to what's right for you...you have to follow your heart and have faith in yourself, your SO and especially God!!!

I wish you and your SO all the very best!!

We met while serving as counselors at a handi-camp. She got to know some of the girls from my church, who told me she thought she liked me. We emailed a bit after camp but that didn't go anywhere; it was just getting to know each other. As camp approached for the second year, we were emailing because we were excited about going. There was an awkwardness in our talking to each other, but we talked for quite a bit before I left. We emailed every-other day after that and in September, I "asked her out"...as much as you could ask someone out who lived in Alberta and you are in Pennsylvania. Anyway, I visited that October, December and then she came here in February. I went back in March and asked her dad's permission and when she came in May, we got engaged. We wanted to get married that September, then October, then November, but thanks to immigration, we had to wait until this past March(could've been after December). I agree with everyone else that each situation is unique. For us, we had prayer/Christian friends as people to talk to to help guide us. It can be easy to look past a person's faults when you rarely see each other and to put them on a pedistal. Again, that wasn't the case for us, but it can be for some people.
