I have met someone online in October who is from Chicago and he wants to marry me. We talk online every night and I went over there to meet him and his family in February and he met mine when he came over here to England in February. I just wondered how long people knew the people they got married to and how long it took them before they decided to get married.

My husband and I met online in November 2003. We met face to face in July 2004. We became engaged September 2005 and filed for a K1 the end of October 2005. He arrived in the States May 2006 and we married July 2006. All total...we knew each other about 3 years. Talked daily either by phone or computer, sometimes both. Visited many times in between. Hope this helps. :)

We met in person on October 2006, spent the whole month together...talked every day after he went back to the States...I visited him for 3 weeks in january...spoke every day after that...then he came here in march for 1 week, and that's when he proposed :luv: and we filed for the fiance visa in april.

We know it's not much in "normal standards", but we just think we've found someone really special in the other, and we believe in our love because it has endured the test of distance.

Saludos,

Caro

I personally would never dream of marrying someone I had only met in person once.

We were together for almost 6 years & lived together for 3 before getting officially engaged.

I wouldn't because I'm picky and I would want to see how they reacted to many different real-life situations from whether or not they do the dishes to how they react to disappointed plans to how they are around their family.

Other people are more tolerant though. I dunno. If you can learn everything you need to know about a mate in 10 days, then more power to you. I'm kind of controlling and I need to know a lot more about a person before I am willing to say "I accept you as you are for the forseeable future." Did that make any sense? Jeez

I wouldn't call that picky or controlling at all.

I remember you said you've been to Argentina, but I didn't know it was in October! :)

and yeap, I live in Buenos Aires, have you been to Opera Bay, the night club in puerto madero? that's how we started, we work close to that area so a lot of people from work go there on the weekend, and we invited him along. I thought him a couple of dance moves and got him drunk on fernet...I'm a bad influence :P

I met Marlon online last year and after a couple of months I went to see him and he proposed and I said yes. We filed our K1 fiance visa petition this January and I went to see him again in March. We hope to get married in September or October. I agree with another poster, when you know you know!

I began writing to my now husband in October 2004. That progressed from pen pals to telephone pals until December 2005 (14 months!) when we decided it was time to meet. I was cautious about relationships beginning on the Internet, mostly because I did not have a chance to see him interact in person with his friends and family, which I believe tells a lot about a person. So we talked for quite awhile, often daily, and I talked to his friends and family on the phone as well. After meeting in December, things sped up!!! We spent a month together then, we met up in Seattle for a week visit, and then in April 2006, when I visited Vancouver, he proposed. By then, we had both had a chance to meet each other's friends and families. Honestly, what sealed the deal for me was seeing how great he is with his niece and nephews.
