Well Beto who admittedly was already unelectable made himself TOTALLY unelectable.

Did you pay for your Martini?

No, does that really matter? The drink wasn't my idea, and my drinking partner insisted.

Just wondered.

Pretty sure YOUR debt for university was low, Boris, given that you are from the UK. I know my ex paid almost nothing to go to university; I had significant debt when I graduated.

I had grants and loans, and paid them all off myself.  Zero help from my parents.  "Significant debt" is a choice.  "Sucking it up" and living in near-poverty during college is also a choice.

My divorce was only $1k overall with a attorney. I did a absolute divorce in NC which is really easy to do. She didn't want to sign the paperwork so I waited 35 days and then told the attorney to go ahead file the paperwork. My x-wife was pissed but it was legal.

Alaska uncontested divorce is $150.  Best. Deal. Ever.

I would have been able to pay it all off had I kept working, and had I not had a spouse who insisted. When I selected the school I went to, I went there because I knew that the name brand would open doors for me. And it absolutely did when I started out -- I had a great job with a good company and an excellent career path in sight. It made sense, and also it was my dad's university, so I was carrying on a family tradition. If I have a child, I might like that child to go to the same school. I knew what I was doing when I made the choice.

Of course not!

I said my friend insisted on paying. Was I supposed to refuse?

Absolute divorce in NC is like $400. But the one being served has three different options: 1. They can sign the paperwork and send it back    2. Contest the divorce   3. Wait 33 days and if they don't sign it or contest it then you can go ahead and file the paperwork to finalize the divorce.

My X didn't want to sign the papers so I waited the 33 days and had my attorney file paperwork afterwards. Needless to say she was posted when she got the paperwork but her love in BF was happy

I selected my school because it was in my price range, and I was debt free within 2 years after graduating, without any help.  I didn't need a "name brand" school to rise to the top.  That comes from within.
