But I am worried that they will see that our honeymoon lasted only one week, maybe that's not enough

I had no honeymoon 🤔..

Why do you think they would find that important? That does not prove a bonafide marriage..

They are very aware that international couples have less time together, so they want to see as much as face to face time as possible under the circumstances and they want to see continuous communication during times apart. Chat logs, phone logs, e-mail etc.

If it doesn't then what does?

You can fake pretty much everything, so nothing can prove bonafide relationship, I read that even having kids proves nothing.

I don't know what to think.

But I also read that chat logs and emails are not needed because they don't even read them, I wonder if they ever actually read all those logs that people send, if they do their job is probably very boring..

All the stuff already mentioned before in this thread---face-time together, communication between each other, etc.

Not every couple has a "long" honeymoon, so don't worry about that, it won't be an issue---many couples don't have a honeymoon at all.

Well they're not asking you to send in 1000+ pages of chat.  Think quality over quantity....select the portions of chat  over the course of your relationship where you talk about your future, your life together, share your plans in.  They're not going to want to see pages and pages of just emojis and "I love you, no I love you more!!!" stuff.

Well, we provided you with the info. Not really sure what else I can say to help you. If you have a solid relationship, the evidence is there and you will be fine.

No, she will not be accused of misrepresentation so that part is looking good 👍🏻

Evidence can include things like adding her to your insurance, authorized user on credit cards (though not all banks allow this without an SSN or ITIN so it’s up to their discretion. Photos, chat logs, boarding passes/passport stamps, receipts from visits like you mentioned, receipts or appraisals for your wedding bands, etc. along these lines.

Affidavits of support don’t carry much weight, but they are listed as viable evidence you can submit on the USCIS website, so it can’t hurt to include it.

Yes the interview is in Paris, she is from Portugal

Exactly! Which is why you submit evidence, not proof. The only way that you could prove your true intentions in the marriage would be to have someone read your mind. And that’s just not possible.

This is what you have to do: you have to convince a total stranger, who has never met either of you before, that you got married for love, not immigration benefit. The wider the variety of evidence you have (plane tickets, photos, communication, financials - wills, insurance, etc - anything that ties you together) the more convinced the stranger will be. Having children proves nothing more than your reproductive organs work. We don’t have children and won’t be having any either (we are 45 and 52) but that doesn’t mean our marriage isn’t genuine. Some couples choose not to have children. Some can’t have children.

That is not true.......continued communication between a couple living in separate countries is vital..........You are not expected to have joint property, joint bank accounts, joint health insurance at this point....but you ARE expected to have spent time together and to have been in continued communication during your marriage........

and if you can, being there for the interview will provide extremely good evidence.

She is in her country, she didn't stay

we only spent 2 months together this time she came and got married and another one week trip to Europe, is this enough?

I am an American citizen and I applied for my wife to get a visa

We met 3 years ago when she visited and then she visited again a year ago and we got married.

we don't have any proof that we met 3 years ago, we hardly took any photos back then and I can't find those that we took.

with our petition we sent some recent photos and a letter from my brother who said in his letter that we met 3 years ago.

My wife's interview is next month.

What happens if they think that we lied? will she be banned for life? is there a waiver?

I read that they might accuse her of misrepresentation and then it's a ban for life?

The sort of misrepresentation that results in a ban is “material” misrepresentation.  Hiding a criminal offense that would make her ineligible.  Not disclosing a marriage that was never terminated.  Things that determine eligibility to qualify for immigration.

Nobody, not us, not anybody starts off a relationship from the beginning thinking that they are gathering proof for a fiance or marriage visa.  Put yourself in the CO shoes.  Me?  I’d flag it. It would stand out as unusual.  Like a plan.  LOL.

Put the milestones in front of the CO and that’s it.

-How you initially met.  Her itinerary and passport stamp to your location carries far more weight than some letter from a family member.

-When you proposed or decided to marry.  Marriage/wedding info.  Those are the only photos i’d recommend

-How many trips you have take  to see each other and how long were those trips.  Plane tix, hotel receipts, passport stamps.

-CO may ask a question or two about how you communicate but they don’t give a flip what you say to each other.

The rest of the interview (80% of about a half hour) is validating the originals against the copies they’ve received.

So she needs to spend 20% of her time on your timeline and time spent together and 80% making sure that she has the things they asked her to bring sorted, organized, and checklisted.

It’s great if your timeline is laid out that way as well.

Good luck!

To the OP, @missileman mentioned in one of his first responses Wills/Living Wills.  I would look into that as well.  Simple Wills can be done fairly quickly for at least yourself.  You can do one for her as well, but she will have to sign it and have it notarized in Portugal.

Good Luck!
