Can anyone tell me something about the city of Amherst?

11/2004 - Met in Brazil

09/2006 - Apply for K1

03/2007 - K1 approved

04/2007 - Apply for AOS & EAD

07/2007 - EAD approved

01/2008 - Conditional Residency approved

11/2009 - Apply to remove conditions

02/2010 - Permanent Residency approved

11/2010 - Apply for Citizenship

03/2011 - Citizenship approved

07/2011 - Moved back to Brazil

hmmmm Amherst Ma is pretty small, I belive under 20,000. My wife went to college at Amerst, and she had a good time. Wish I could say more, but she is away at this time. i wil try and ask later on tonight or tomorow when I speak to her again about her opinion. Sorry I can't give you as much in depth detail as the poster above,lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

It's ok - and thanks.

I was told that Amherst is a quaint town by one person, and a good sized college town by another. I checked out the town's website and couldn't find info about population.

I'm considering grad school there but don't know if it'll be best for my hubby to find work. Neither one of us wants a small town and we have other options.

As i recall from my wife talking about it,it is mostly a "college" town!! She went to college there for her bachelors. I know a few yrs back it was a top rated college. I wish they would stop sending us Alumni #######,lol

My humble opinion is that most of MA is a hole, Amherst included.

But then, I'm a small-town girl ;)

Worchester is about 20 min away!! And there are many cities close by. Boston is about an hour away!! My wife says Amherst itself is a very nice town. She really enjoyed her time there. It is a smal town, and has that small town feeling!! has a movie theatre, mini golf etc. She was last there 7 yrs ago, so I'm sure things have changed!! But she really liked the area. Hope that helps!! Rentals were fairly decent when she was there, no clue on house prices! cheers

Ok, so my friend was right about it being a nice quaint town. I think we'll steer away from there - there are other grad schools for us - where it is warm too :thumbs: .
