Pa. woman charged with raping boy

COLUMBIA, Pa. - A 12-year-old boy told investigators he had sex on numerous occasions with a 24-year-old woman and that his mother collected money from the woman in return, police said.

Ashley Laurie Banks was charged with rape and corruption of minors. The boy's mother has not been charged.

Columbia Borough Police said a Lancaster County child welfare official alerted them in September that the boy had told her he had been prostituted out by his mother "on a nightly basis" between August and December 2005.

He said the mother "had (Banks) pay her money for the acts to continue," according to Banks' arrest affidavit.

Investigators obtained a letter Banks allegedly wrote to the boy that the affidavit said "detailed a sexual relationship" between them.

Banks waived a preliminary hearing May 21 and was being held in the York County Prison on Friday without bail. Her lawyer, Cory J. Miller, did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment left Friday at his Lancaster office.

Detective Daniel C. Bell said the boy's mother has moved from Columbia to another part of the state. She did not appear to have a home telephone listing.

The boy has received counseling and now lives with his father, Bell said.

Yes the adults all have problems thats for sure i also find it hard to believe a boy that old would "participate" for that long if being forced into it without telling someone sooner. Glad he was able to get away and have a better life.

A) how can a mother allow that to happen to her son, much less "force" him into it

B) why on earth would any woman want to have sex with a 12 year old?
