Kick butt!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Don't worry too much, they are awesome there!

Don't worry about having to line up there for 7:15. I went early and he told me to come back at 9:30. K Visa holders get ushered right in. Total VIP treatment :)

If you like Thai food, Sala Thai was amazing!! It's on Burrard.

good luck...they really are a nice bunch of people. I was there early and they took me right in. I think I had a 5 min wait outside....

you will have no problems!!!!!!!!!!

Oct 1/09 - I-751 package sent

Oct 3 - package delivered

Oct 5 - NOA mailed

Oct 13 - 1st NOA received and additional letters for my daughters I filed with. NOAs stated Resident Status

has been extended for 1 year and that we will be receiving a letter for an ASC appointment for

fingerprints, photo, and signature.

Dec 2009 - Received 10 year permanent resident card.

Feb 2010 - My children received their 10 year permanent resident cards.

Oct 2010 - My children were legally adopted by my USA Citizen husband.

Feb 07, 2007 - Sent I-130 to Vermont

Feb 20, 2007 - Received NOA1

May 15, 2007 - Email - Approval notice sent!

May 23, 2007 - Received NOA2

I-129F for K3

Feb 21, 2007 - Sent I-129F to Chicago

Mar 20, 2007 - Received NOA1

Apr 02, 2007 - Rec'd email - transfer to Vermont Service Centre

May 15, 2007 - Approved!

June 04, 2007 - Received Pkt 3

June 05, 2007 - Mailed Pkt 3 back to Montreal

June 06, 2007 - Montreal receives completed Pkt 3

June 09, 2007 - Received NOA2

August 23, 2007 - Rec'd email from MTL with interview date

October 31, 2007 - Interview in Montreal - APPROVED!!

November 2, 2007 - Visa arrived (2 days)

November 6, 2007 - K3 Visa activated in Ottawa

AOS & EAD

November 16, 2007 - Mailed AOS/EAD to Chicago

November 19, 2007 - Received in Chicago @ 8:18 am - Signed by V. Bustamante

November 27, 2007 - Received NOA1

December 20, 2007 - Biometrics Appointment

There's a hotdog stand called Mr. Tubesteak beside the Consulate. Make sure you get one. Saying you ate a Mr Tubesteak is always good conversation.
