Just got an email from the Cairo embassy.......

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for sending your e-mail message, the case was pending administrative process and will be issued and send to applicant shortly.

Regards,

Consular Staff

So....do you think the AR is over??? It says WAS???? Visa will be issued shorty? I'm wondering what their "shortly" means......1 week, 1 month????

I'm trying not to get myself too exctied just yet.

Wow.. I don't know if that means shortly in our terms or shortly in embassy terms. I would assume that everything turned out ok and it should be on its way??? i think....

Amy I have to agree with Amal looks like the AR is completed. Has the case came to DOS for the monthly meeting yet? Call them and check the status. All cases after AR come to monthly meeting at DOS the end of each month or first week of the following month. Once it is approved at DOS level it goes to finalize processing at the embassy. Good luck.

It sounds to me like somebody's file was in the "we'll get to it when we have time" pile, but the phone calls you've made got it moved to the "work on this today" pile.

Congratulations and I hope your file stays in the right pile and you have your man here soon.

I always wondered about those meetings. Since I was gone the first two weeks of the month of March, the last time I had checked with DOS was March 1 (when they said "no update yet"). Then, Lo and Behold, the visa was issued on March 15th . . . so I missed all that in between stuff . ..confusing emails from consulate, etc . .. although I went thru some confusing phone calls while IN Cairo . . . but it didn't change the outcome . . . Ahmed got his visa.

Sooooooooo, Amy, I think that "WAS" is the indicator that AR is finished and you will probably see him getting his visa in a few days. If you call DOS, maybe they can tell you what day they were finished . . . but I'll bet that he will get his visa soooooooooooo sooooooooooooooon!!! Insha'allah, and Good Luck! It is so nice to get the good news.

Dang...my nerves are so jacked up right now, like I'm sure everyone here is familier with. Do I get excited? Try to stay mellow? Hit the Xanax??? LOL! I'm just afraid to tell Khallid too much because we both get our hopes up and then nothing. I just told him they told him "soon!" ;)

You can call DOS and see what the status of your case? I know it is not easy and a roller coaster ride thru this hole process. Just tell him that they are in final processing and hope to hear something soon.

I almost want to scream "Mabrook !!" but I know I can't yet.

Trust me if I was you I would be over excited right now and Ali would have known the second I got the e-mail. But that's why I keep getting hurt ... I believe everything they say and take it all to heart. Hope for the best !!!

I know what you mean. I tried to be careful about telling Ahmed things that I thought might get him all pumped up . . . just to get disappointed again! But, I got to tell you, the minute I heard the Visa Specialist at DOS say "the visa was issued yesterday", I was too excited to NOT call!! I was a bit deflated to find out that he hadn't heard anything and what with it being Thursday night, we didn't expect anything for 2 days. so it was great to get his text msg within the hour saying his passport/visa had been delivered by TNT while he was out, LOL!!!

Sooooooooo, you could be hearing something from Khallid within days! Really, I am hoping that since you have to wait it out till Monday morning to call DOS, that you will get a call from him in a few hours saying TNT delivered it .

LOL, I can hear you saying "just put me out of my misery!!!". Hang in there . . . it will be over soon!

And yesterday they said the was WAS in AR and would be issued shortly. Dang it!!! Is it too early to drink??????? I think I need to send my 5 year to that embassy to work.....all the 5 years olds I know are 100% more organized than that place.
