Yea, VFS office. They asked her my name and how we met. Then he asked how I agreed to a marriage so quickly. They requested that we submit documents showing on-going communication before and after the marriage (which she had with her already). The one positive is that the VFS office is close to her house and they said she would not need to return for a 2nd interview. Everything can be completed from the VFS office.

You  married on the 1st trip to see her?

this is a red flag in itself

you need to read the portal for your country

and read some of the embassy reviews

you have given the marriage certificate as proof of marriage /  now you must go thru the process to prove the relationship itself is real

you need more face time with your spouse

so many different things can happen now

after submitting more evidence of support,  the case can go into AP (a few days ,  weeks , months or as long as a year)

they can deny and return the packet to US with a NOIR or NOID

learn how to deal with these from the USCIS site

or they can say submit her passport and approve

expect the worse /  pray for the best

but read and prepare evidence

and go see your spouse as i am sure you 2 need this

Do you really think it will take months? She was told to submit the additional documents at a local office. They would then take her passport and issue the visa upon approval. The officer kept all of the official documents.

i have a similar situation, and i have been waiting for 7 months now.  you never know, when they finish evaluating the case.

Best of luck !

I understand there are red flags but isn't the point of all of the submitted documents and ultimately the interview to alleviate concerns? Just frustrating that the documents weren't even looked at.

Once the documents are submitted, do you know who reviews them? Is it the VFS office? Back to the main Embassy? NVC?

What’s  the point of submitting all types of evidence if they are still going to doubt on your relationship ?

In my case. I submitted tons of photos with family as well, 4 trips in less then a year , screen shots of conversations ( with translations)... do they not look at all that ?  I did read somewhere that USCIS doesn’t look at conversations and they get rid of them so they don’t even end up at the consulate ?

Sorry,  just kind of frustrated and confused..  Also in AP

I'm just wondering... what/how much evidence did you submit PRIOR to the interview?

If you submitted minimal evidence before the interview and were relying on the CO looking at things you brought, I can see why they may have given a 221g. I'm guessing that the COs have a very limited time to interview each person, so I could see why they don't want to be bothered looking at photo books when they are on a schedule... much easier to kick it back and let someone else look at the new evidence when they get around to it.

This is exactly what I believe happened.

I submitted plenty of evidence with my I130. However, I submitted only what was asked at the NVC stage. Tax documents, birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc. I was under the impression that photos and chat logs would be looked at the interview.

Short time of knowing each other, and very little time actually spent together are not factors in your favor.

Don't give you.  221g is a soft/temporary refusal and NOT a hard denial.  Many people received 221g especially for K visas. Just submit all the documents they asked and if you have more convincing evidence then include them.  Good luck.

CO's review the application before the interview

Be happy they have asked for additional documents

and no one knows who will review them / could be CO who interviewed or a supervisor but i would be guessing if i said i knew

My spouse was unfortunately issued a refusal under Section 221G for her CR1 visa. The interviewing officer did not believe that I (American born) could agree to marry a girl in India within 5 months. Even though there was logs and log of Skype/WhatsApp/Facebook transcripts, letters, gift receipts, he denied the visa without even asking to see them. Has anyone else experienced this? We now have to submit more documents at a local office. Does anyone know how long the process takes once documents are submitted? The officer said they would not conduct another interview.

Really?

Did you buzz them and talk to them about this?

CO's review the application before the interview

I am not sure this is always true,  I suspect they could be reviewed in some consulates by local staff and not COs

YMMV
