Nov 19, 2019: Interview - Approved!
I’m now just waiting for my oath taking ceremony letter. My completion date was December 2019 but it now changed to February 2020.

The interview took about 15 minutes. I correctly answered 6 questions so he didn’t ask me the rest for the civics test. Brought a ton of documents but he only looked at my Green Card, Interview Letter, and State ID. He then reviewed the rest of my application with me, made sure everything is accurate and nothing changed. We also reviewed what will show up on my naturalization certificate. Everyone was nice and helpful.

I will update the spreadsheet once I get the letter.

Is anybody here know if a greencard holder applying for citizenship the dependant (child) will be automatically citizen if granted?or need to apply a separate?

Children can not apply to naturalize.

In order for the child to automatically derive citizenship; the child must meet these 4 conditions.

1. Be under age 18

2. Be a green card holder

3. Have a USC parent

4. Live with the USC parent

Had my ceremony today and it was a bit more eventful than I had anticipated. Let's start off with some pointers though. There were 50 new citizens in this ceremony so they went through all of us first to ensure the certs were correct. The ceremony started 1h15min after the stated time on the letter. If you have a lot of family i would recommend they show up later.

We needed two volunteers to tell their story so might want to prep for that if you feel so inclined. There was no shortage of volunteers in our group of 50.

The ceremony started with a pledge of allegiance to the flag but later on, after everyone has completed the oath we had to redo the pledge. To my surprise the judge called me out to lead the audience in the pledge of allegiance. I thought it was odd and turns out that one of my co-worker is the niece of the judge so she was pranking me.

All in all the ceremony took no more than 40 mins or so with opportunity to take pics both during and after the event.

Glad this is over but I understand I'm fortunate to have lived in areas with low population so my wait times have been minimal compared to some of the stories here. Oh, one last thing. Make sure you also take your driver's license. Doesn't say on the letter but it is required.

Good luck to everyone else here!

Congrats!

Your timeline makes me hopeful that it won’t be the 6 months announced (biometrics in Greer), and told the rest will be Charlotte .

The IO said it'll be about a month for the oath, the system says 3 so it might be the 6 months by the time I get done...
