We filed our I-130 at the end of March (went to the Nebraska processing center....booooo). My husband will be changing address from one flat to another in September, and will also start a new job in October. I cannot for the life of me figure out (a) If we need to notify USCIS of these changes and (b) If so, how we would do that. Given that we needed to list out his current employer and address on the form, I would imagine we need to send in updates. Does anyone know what to do in these situations? Given the length of time it is taking to process these days, I can't imagine this is a rare situation.

Nope. Nothing needed from beneficiary.

Only petitioner needs to update their address if they moved since filing petition. Done via I-865 (yes, even if you haven’t filed I-864 yet, I-865 for petitioner move)

Even if the petitioner moves, no need to file i-865 if the petitioner hasn’t submitted i-864 and/or the sponsored immigrant hasn’t immigrated.

Yes, you do. I did it when I moved (twice) while sibling petition pending. Received confirmation letter they updated my address so the approval notice came to the correct address.

Not required but highly recommended for those exact reasons

I meant no need to submit i865 unless i864 is active. One can always change the address online (AR-11) after move to have their pending petition’s notices sent to the new address.

Looks like you don’t know how it goes.

AR-11 is for LPRs - it would do nothing to the pending petition.

Petitioners (USC, LPRs) use I-865 to change their address with a pending case at USCIS.

I go by what USCIS says not what people do.

I said online version of AR-11 not paper filing. USCs, LPRs or other aliens with pending petitions can use Change of Address online (online version of paper AR-11). You don’t need to tell me how it goes as long as uscis allows it, just look up uscis change of address online where you can put the receipt number of pending cases and select USA as country of citizenship.

Saying it again, only if previously submitted i864 if any is active (still enforceable), one is required to submit i865. Anyone with a pending case can do change of address online, but one has to submit i865 if their i864 is still active.

That statement is wrong. You can send i865 but you don’t have to. USCIS says the opposite.

When should I use form i865?

If at any time in the past you completed Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, to sponsor an immigrant, you are required to report your change of address within 30 days of the change if the sponsorship agreement is still in force.
