If i wasn't so stubborn i would just pay the 125 the doc wanted for these shots, but i just don't feel good about it. I just paid a civil surgeon 250 for a "full medical" (which, all he did was check my heartbeat, ask a few questions and do a tb skin test) then he told me that i need a hepatitis B booster and mmr. My vac records that i gave him have a bunch of hep B shots on them, the last ones being from 1995.He said the hep B vaccine expires every 10 years and that is why i need another one. I believe i have had the mmr also, but i can't remember if it's on the record (he kept them) and he almost got away with making me get another shot which is for chicken pox until i informed him that i had the pox when i was a kid..upon my research that is something he should have asked but instead i'm guessing wanted to make more money off of me and hoping i wouldn't notice.

Is it really necessary to have this "hep b booster"? And if so,is paying 125 for that and the mmr decent? I have been trying to google to find another place to get them done and i can't find anything..so if anyone has any information regarding where i could go in the chicago area for these shots,i'd appreciate it.

Please help because i'm hoping to send off my aos package asap...i just don't want to be ripped off.

125 for a hep b booster is about standard, we paid 90 for a varicella shot and I know for a fact that this doctor wasn't into ripping people off, he only charged 5 dollars to transcribe. I know its so frustrating they get you for every penny they can. Hang in there, could be worse if you adjusted status after July 30 ;) Sorry I have no idea about the expiration date of those shots.

I needed 2 vaccines and my health insurance paid for them. You can also look into getting them free (or for low cost), through your city/towns health department. Another option is a free or low cost clinic.

hep b shot is age specific, if you are 18-64 you shouldnt need it anyway.

TD is needed, MMR and usually varicela (not in your case) everything else depends on age.

Still it would be good to get the booster... but not to HAVE to get it.

Check your local Doc and clinics, might get them cheaper... as for that Doctor keeping your records... I would demand them back, he doesnt need them and you might in the future.

I had to have all the shots done as I did not have any records of what I had and when... I went to the local health clinic and had all the shots done for $15.00 in total. I took the vaccination record that they gave me at the clinic to the civil surgeon and she did the paper work and sealed it in an envelope.

I agree dont have the civil surgeon give you the shot, your local health department will give them usually free of charge, then have them fill out the record and take that to the civil surgeon and have them transcribe it.

Hey now! Hepatitis B shots is for life. You get 3 shots in line, and you are good forever.

Look for other cheaper civil surgeons:

https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=of...office_type=CIV

Also, hepatitis B is not required. I had them, and he said its extra and not needed.

Also, why he did kept your records???
