Does anybody know how long it takes for verification to be processed? My new employer wants me to start work next Monday. I want to be realistic about if that will be possible.

I know that the latest that the employer may complete Section 2 of the form (identification documentation verification) is the end of the third day after the first day of employment, so I could start work on Monday as long as we have filled in the form by the end of next Wednesday. I think they are terrified of doing this wrong and being fined.

I-9 doesn’t get processed anywhere. It is to be kept with the employer for the record and in case it gets asked by some governing agent later on like DOL, USCIS...

3 day rule is that the employee has to provide identification and employment authorization document within 3 days od starting work.

If you already have an EAD, just fill the form on Monday (the day you start working), problem solved.

Ah, ok. I thought it was like SAVE case check and could take weeks.

I have a green card. This is all new to me and them. Thanks for explaining.
