Since I finally got my interview date and now at least have a rough idea about when I'll be going to move, I just started to get information on ticket prices.

So far, British Airways seems to be offering the best deals for my route (Frankfurt - L.A.) and dates. I only used their German daughter DBA once on a short national flight and I was hooked to see that they gave away free Playboy magazines and calendars. :reading::thumbs:

So, does anybody have experiences with BA on international flights? How's the in-flight entertainment? What about luggage? On their homepage they say that you can take 2 pieces of lugagge up to 32 kg. That would be great!

I appreciate recommendations for other airlines as well.

I'm a little* afraid of flying, so I need to be 100% comfortable with the airline I choose... .

Thank you,

Sandra

I've never flown BA...most of my flights have been with Delta. They're pretty good. I would imagine when Joel and I fly to England one day, we'll check into BA.

I've flown Air Canada, Continental, and Delta...of the three, Delta would be my first choice. :)

Fot longhaul flights BA is one of my favourities, mainly because of their entertainment system. You get your own LCD screen with a choice of about 12 channels + a moving map. Yes, that's in cattle class... I mean, economy ;) You also get a bag with eyeshades, socks, toothbrush etc.

You might want to consider Lufthansa, though. IIRC, they have a non-stop service from Frakfurt to Los Angeles. That's one start and one landing less, and you are afraid of flying...

we ALWAYS fly BA when we go to england!! i absolutely LOVE them. the seats aren't bad in economy and bartek totally hit all the reasons why. in-flight entertainment, headphones for TV and/or radio, and of course ... the eyemask!!

i've just always found their prices reasonable and their service is quite pleasant!!

Thank you so much, everbody! That's just the information I wanted! (F)(F)(F)

And yes, Bartek, Lufthansa was my first choice. I always liked them a lot but the tickets for my chosen time and destination are starting at €250+ above BA's prices and that's what made me consider trying BA.

€250 might be worth the 3-5 hour difference in travel time a connection will cause.

Well yeah, it's a good 3 hours more, but the layover is at London Heathrow and I always liked that airport PLUS I can go shopping for my beloved "Walkers Sensations - Roasted chicken and thyme" chips/ crisps that I can neither get here in Germany nor in the States.

Yep, I have some strange priorities.

when I choose an airline for long flights. I think most will agree go with one that offers the best inflight services. like good entertainment.

delta and contiental dont. they are too busy charging you for those nasty peanuts.

fly with an airline that has those movie screens in the back of the seat.

Also, most of American airlines seem to have reduced baggage allowance from 2x32 kg to 2x25 kg.
