Getting a new passport after CC & while waiting for interview?

Hi - 

My parents have been waiting for their interview letter (in IR-5) in Mumbai after CC for past 3.5 months. Judging from recent activity, I don't think they will get an IR this month either, which means we will likely have some time. In the meanwhile, they've been playing with the thought of getting a new passport since their Indian passport expires in April 2020 (still more than 6 months away, but this ways they are able to avoid having to deal with getting a new passport once they are in the US).

 

Any concerns if they were to do so? Specifically, I'm asking because their green card application paperwork has been completed with a different (current) passport number.

Won’t be a problem. They should take both old and new passports to the interview

No issue,  My wife got a new visa and the consulate updated the info.
