I am worried they will deny my case.

our story -

we met 5 years ago when I visited the US for 3 months, and we kinda dated but it wasn't serious because we knew I had to leave.

when I left, we kept communicating via whatsapp and skype. but it was more friendly than romantic.

two years ago I went to the US again to see him and stayed 2 months, we dated and after a month he proposed to me and we got married.

I left and been waiting in my country for my case to be processed, I had to take care of my elderly mother, that's the main reason I came back.

the process is taking a long time plus it was also my fault, because it took me a long time to locate some documents.

anyway, at first we thought the whole process will take 6 month but it's been 14 now and still no interview date.

When we saw the process was taking long we decided to go on our honeymoon in Europe, this was 2 months ago.

We are CC but still no idea when my interview is going to take place.

I am freaking out because I feel like they will deny us, i went through everything we sent with our petition and it's not much. it's photos of only us, some chat logs and a letter from a friend. back then we didn't have much and we still don't.

My husband tried adding me to his bank account but they said that I have to come in person because I don't have SSN, he ordered a credit card in my name but I can't use it because it's asking SSN for activation.

I am frustrated. I feel like they will read out chats and think we are just friends and deny us, we are not very lovey dovey  in our conversations usually, it's mostly everyday stuff, we do have some I LOVE YOU, but it's not all the time.

we don't have wedding photos because we got married at city hall. we don't have family photos because my husband never met my mom,  he never visited my country, he has a business and can't just travel whenever he wants, even the honeymoon was hard to plan. I did meet his mom but we didn't think to snap photos, it wasn't an event or anything. other than our mothers there's no more family.

I don't know what to do.

We do have new photos from our honeymoon but that is all.

Should I fly to the US before the interview to create more evidence? like photos with his mom? more time spent together? I just don't know what to do.

We never got an RFE but I feel that the interview will be problematic.

I need your opinion please.I am freaking out and literally can't function.I keep imagining them denying me and canceling my tourist visa and then I'll never be able to get a new one, and this will cause me to be apart from my husband,  there is no way my husband can come live in my country.it's been painful enough being apart for so long, now it's literally already feels like physical pain.

 thank you.

Try to calm down.. I know it is difficult but freaking out over something that is not happening yet will not help at all.

Processing times are long, where is your case at right now? USCIS or NVC? Maybe I missed it?

Well, then why on earth are you freaking out? 😄 You’re very close, did not get an RFE! You did well so far! 👍🏻

Interview dates can take a long time to get. It does not mean that there are issues with you case, just that the Embassy is busy!

When did you receive your Documentarily Qualified e-mail?

Also check out the “Case Complete to Interview August” part of the VJ forum. You will find other people that are in the same boat and also nervously waiting for an interview date.

We got it on July 11th, But I am freaking out because I am afraid that at the interview they won't be convinced that we have a bona fide marriage because we don't have a lot of evidence.

I keep reading our chat logs over and over and keep finding there things that I don't like, like for example I was telling my husband back in the days that I am frustrated with something and that I wish I just stayed with him in the states, I was angry at something at that time but now I think they might think I had intention of staying illegally, do they even read those chats before the interview?

I keep hearing that they already decide if the case is approved or denied before the interview and the interview is just a final confirmation. I am afraid I won't have a chance to change their mind.

I keep imagining them telling me that they think my husband is only helping me get a visa. I know this probably sounds silly, but I just can't help but worry. we also didn't send any kissing pictures and I am not even sure if we have any.

We did not send any kissing pictures either, they remain in our personal collection 😊..

Even if they think you wanted to stay illegally, the fact that you did not and went the legal way is good.

Please, just try to calm down and don’t go all crazy about things that might not even happen. You are so close and being so nervous on your interview will not help your case even!

When the interview comes, answer truthfully and stay calm.. If the CO is not convinced about something or wants some additional documentation, you will be able to send it after the interview.

The immigration process is time consuming and very stressful, stick together and deal with hurdles only when/if you reach them. At this point, you have no reason to already freak out about things and it is not good for your health either..

You are OK.  Most couples living apart have nothing but marriage certs, travel evidence / photos that they have spent time together (sometimes what seems like very little) and not much else.

They ask about that chat?  You heard it was possible but chose to do it this way is a great (and probably accurate?) answer.  The interview is a discussion with direct questions and short to the point and accurate answers.  Try not to stress.

Try not to freak out.  If you just got CC a week ago the interview date email will be coming soon, at most a few weeks, and typically it comes about a month before the interview date, sometimes less, so you're almost done.  Take any additional evidence of bona fide marriage to your interview with all the other required documents and hope for the best.  Be prepared and know everything about your spouse.  Be confident and look the officer in the eye and be calm.  If your spouse is allowed at your interview (depends on the embassy/consulate), it would be a good idea if he is there with you, that way they can ask both of you a few questions and in my opinion shows that the relationship is more real vs. just you going on your own.  And worst case scenario, if the officer has concerns about the relationship they will most likely ask for additional documents and give you time to submit them, and if denied after that it can go back to USCIS where it can be reaffirmed, unlike the fiance visa where the file dies.  So don't worry and hopefully your visa will be approved soon.  Good luck!

the fact that you took so much time to get to know each other ,   is a real plus

and then the trips here and time spent add to your case

Cyprus is not high fraud so calm  down,  and go into the interview with confidence

you met,  you married here,  you returned home, and later went on a honeymoon (this is all in your favor)

i hope you sent proof of the trips

I know sometimes when someone tells you to calm down and it will be fine, it doesn't always help. I find action helps. So here are some "action" steps instead of re-reading and second guessing what you already sent.

-gather airplane ticket, hotel reservation, activity ticket stubs, etc that you have from times that you have seen each other to take to interview

-obtain copies of spouse's passport pages showing stamps from your honeymoon to Europe (if it wasn't already part of the package)

-gather any legal type of documents you are listed as a beneficiary/spouse (will, life insurance, etc) if any

-review with you spouse answers to basic questions that we sometimes lose track of as the years go by - year you met, actual job title, date of birth, family member names - whatever you submitted on the application or would be easy to locate in your spouse's life.

Hopefully having a way to "prepare" instead of just worry can help a little. Best of luck!

For the only timeline I found for spousal visa from Cyprus -2017-, it took 2 months from CC to the actual interview. It took a month for the file to reach the embassy. You got case closed a week ago, so based on that single timeline, you might get the interview date in around 3 weeks.

Here's the timeline, in case you want to check it:

Regarding evidence, as you were advised before, gather as much as possible: passport stamps, tickets, hotel bookings and new pictures. As for financial commingling, they understand it is hard for you to be added on any of his accounts. If you visit the US again though, you can be added as the beneficiary in case of death on his bank account. You'll just need your passport for identification purposes.

You can explain to the CO during your interview as to why. Back then when I had my interview, my then fiance, now husband, we only have 2 pictures taken and unfortunately all were taken at the same day. Though I met his family, I didnt really thought of taking a photo.

I met my husband in U.S. too and at the time, who would have thought? I didnt imagine we would be embarking on this immigration journey. When it was time for us to part, that's when we realized we dont wanna be away with each other.

He proposed couple of days before me leaving U.S. Due to responsibilities and work, I chose to go home and we filed fiancee Visa. Nothing was planned. It just happened so neither me or my fiance thought of documenting our relationship. Until we needed to justify our relationship. I just took what we got on my interview.

I remember the CO asked for our pics together. I handed the only photos we got. The CO kinda frowned and I told him, that I met my fiance in US and we dated over movies and video games. None of us remembered to take photos in the couch. He had not been to Philippines either.

Pinoy Ako! ^_^
