Small difference, I'm older, not really a problem. Maturity isn't the same as age, which is worth noting. ;) Sometimes people the same age have one partner who seems 10 years younger than the other.

So true Alex! So often people overlook that one little detail....maturity. Wish more people in this world could look at *that* particular thing before getting so bloody worked up about age difference.

Me to G: Do you think our age difference causes problem?

G: You mean our lack of age difference?

Me: The question is, our age difference.

G: ...No.

In any case, you left out the "there is no age difference" option for the last two questions. And Gareth is 34 days older than me. (We were married at the halfway point between our birthdays, too.)

TomTom,

Nicely framed poll, but I do wish that when people talk about age difference they would include the context of absolute age.

A 20 (or more) year age difference looks a lot different when the older person is 55 than if the older person is 30.

A 20 (or more) year age difference looks a lot different again when the older person is 55 than if the older person is 80.

Yodrak

Luckily, I am only 3 1/2 months older than my fiancee. But I'm curious if the age difference is a problem for other couples. I know, as long as you love your partner nobody should care about the age But we all know that's not always the case...

Hubby is 16 years older, will be 50 this year, but acts like a 12-year-old most of the time. So our "real" age difference is 22 years!

He sometimes has minor meltdowns about being "so much" older, I do worry about being able to grow old together every once in a while, but for everybody else around us it has never been an issue.

Too funny: I am 22 days older than my husband and we too got married in between our birthdays, though not strictly at the half way point.

I call him my 'green leaf' sometimes, after the loosely translated Dutch saying: 'now and then an old goat has an appetite for a green leaf'.

I wouldn't care about his age either way, it really is nothing but a number :)

I am 7 years older than Mr. Bruce.

We were friends for a number of years, and our relationship just sort of happenend, so I never really got the chance to contemplate or digest it. In the beginning of the relationship, the only one who had a problem with it was me. A few idiots had a few words to say, like "cradle robber" and a few comments relating to our sex life... that bothered me for the first few months.

I also wondered if he would want children as he got older, and well...I am quite content with the 10 year son we already have, and have NO desire to ever change another nappy, or get up 3x each night for feedings. Once we talked, and I knew we were on the same page with kids, I was OK.

Now, it's really not something we even notice, as both of us have the mentality of 12 year olds. LOL

Hubby is four years older than me. No it doesn't really cause problems. There are some differences, even at only 4 years of age difference. I think it's also cultural though. But it doesn't cause big problems.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)
