Hi all, my GC is expired and I751 is still pending. It was filed over 16 months ago.

My 18 month extension letter is expiring soon. I still haven't heard anything after biometrics.

I have to travel abroad in next 2 months for business(i have to travel otherwise i will lose my job). What should i do if i can't return in 3 months?

If I get stamp in passport before i travel, will it let me enter us if green card and extension letter BOTH expires?

thank you

I agree, once you get the stamp, it functions as a GC, so no need for the expired GC or extension letter.  In fact, often times, USCIS will take the expired GC when you get the stamp, sometimes they don't.

Additionally, it is good to have a copy of the CBP Carrier Guide in case you run into any hassles at check in coming back to the US.  Reference Page 31.

I went to India with expired GC and extension letter.  No issue and then when 18 months extension letter expired , I got I-551 stamp.  Most of the the airline officers or their supervisors know 1-551 stamp and no issue to get  board in  India and after coming to JFK, I had to go to secondary inspection, not scary, just 1 hour sitting in secondary and then they gave passport back.

But , Bill's link is good to get the document to take with you.  I took with me, but I never had to use it.

Do you have to pay for this i-155 stamp or go through any application process?

Thanks for answers. I live in texas and how can i get stamp on my passport?

When i tried to make appointment online, it says "This office is not accepting walk-in requests or scheduling InfoPass appointments."

thank you.

Have you called them? I’m about to call Potomac because I’m coming up on expiry of extension letter and I’m hoping to travel home to see family for the first time since December 2019 (to the UK). So I know I’ll need my stamp before I travel. I’m going to call and see what they say.
