Trump falsely claims he tried to stop ‘send her back’ chant

“I started speaking really quickly,” he told reporters Thursday. “I was not happy with it. I disagree with it” and “would certainly try” to stop any similar chant at a future rally.

And supporters will give tons of justifications "nah, he is just trolling", "he is playing the game", "see all these Dems got played" even when they clearly see the effects of all the lies and anything racist, xenophobic he had said.

   Some seem to think that being an ultimate troll is actually a quality that people are looking for in their president. Like it's a good thing. I don't think it's on most people's list. 

 

   The qualities that make Trump a great troll; his fragile ego, his abrasive and obnoxious manner and his inability to admit when he is wrong are probably the biggest detriments to his actually being able to accomplish most of the things he set out to do.  It's the reason the white house has had a revolving door under this administration and why the republicans could control both chambers of congress and the presidency for 2 years, and accomplish absolutely nothing.

Hmmm... dunno.  Remember that nobody thought that he'd last a few months, let alone a full term, so standard Republicans were unwilling to go to the wall for (with) him, and in fact more than 40 refused to run for re-election.  The Cabinet turnover was consistent with a candidate who didn't expect to win (this from Brent Scowcroft or another long-time experienced observer) and he had to pick people on the fly, so to speak.  As a businessman, Trump hired & fired more people than probably everyone else in Washington put together, so turnover can be expected simply from that standpoint.  In terms of his personality, he doesn't put on airs; he is who he is, without pretense or pretending.  This last can be as much an attractant as a repelling factor.  Finally, he has "street smarts" and knows precisely how to needle people who assault him.  He's the only Republican in memory who has ever really stood up for himself rather than "losing with dignity" in Romney/McCain/everyone-else fashion.

Well, I'm not a huge supporter of Trump (a little of what he's done is good,though, imo) lets give him a chance then, to be fair.  If he says he "would certainly try" to stop it at any future rallies, then let's see what happens when the chants start up again (and they probably will).

 

Most may not hold their breath while waiting, but he should be at least given the chance if he is not happy with it and disagrees with it as he says.  One wonders how Trump would plan on trying to stop the chants, should it happen in the future. 

 

A firm verbal rebuke towards his supporters during the rally after the chanting starts? (Don't see that happening, plus he's too smart to do that)

A hand "stop" signal after a few moments?  (To stop the chants or just lower them so he can speak again?  Depends on who you ask, and probably also depends on whatever he says right after)

A quick "no no no, but...?" (Again I guess would depend on whatever came after the "but")

 

Critics tend to criticize no matter what...supporters tend to support no matter what.  He's caught between a rock and a hard place most often.

   Yeah there's a funny and kind of surreal page on whitehouse.gov that lists all of his accomplishments.

 

  To his credit, he's done well on things he can accomplish unilaterally. With his background, that is not a surprise. It was one of his strengths. The flip side however, is on things that he needs congressional support, it has been dismal. With both chambers of congress under republican control for 2 years, the lack of accomplishments speak volumes. I also don't think Trump has any political capital to speak of. I mean it's a common kool-aid line to blame the media, the liberal judges, the activists and all the people he has fired and what have you, but the bottom line is people can't work with him and can't get along with him for a reason.
