Request to speed up the EAD -suggestions?

Hello Fellow Canadians :)

I was wondering if you all have any suggestions? I heard the National benefits center is so backed up with EAD requests that it is a current 8 month wait time. My current work status will be expiring soon and since I will be filing my AOS (marriage to USC) at that time, is there anyway I can ask for an EAD expedite at the same time if I get an awesome job offer? I heard we can ask our Congressman (or something like that) to write a letter.

Has anyone gotten an EAD expedite before?  Any chance or Canadian nationality would help in this case lol?

Thanks all !

You can certainly try to expedite by calling USCIS and requesting an expedite over the phone based on financial loss (presumably) and / or contacting your cognressperson and/or senator. I would suggest going through this thread which has a lot of experiences and information on how to go about it, what evidence to provide, and timelines:

edit to add: it does seem though that recently processing times for expedites have increased (in February USCIS was telling people 45 days, in April I was told 60 days, and in May/June I was told that there was no timeline). Also today I saw the first poster (after following expedite threads for some months) saying that they flat out rejected their expedite request without asking for supporting evidence because there has been an increase in expedite requests and although their situation appeared to qualify, they just wouldn't process it. My expedite case took 67 days. All this to say, like with anything USCIS-related lately, it's taking longer and becoming more difficult.

I managed to get an expedite, but it cost me about 61,000 dollars in a medical bills for my wife's emergency appendectomy. You can see the whole story in my previous posts, but had the card in only 83 days, about 30 days after requesting expedite. Most expensive card I ever bought. LOL I did everything myself, no congressman or anything, was pretty easy really.

The congressman will only help you if it seems that USCIS have made a mistake or treated you unfairly.  He will not get involved on your behalf just because you have to wait as long as everybody else.

You could still write him a letter.  Maybe that would help sway him towards dealing with USCIS' insane processing times.  Just don't expect to benefit from it personally.
