Tourist Visa ?

Hi everyone, my boyfriend is currently in the process of filing for a tourist visa to be present for child birth! First, I'm not too familiar with the types of visas but is this the only type of visa he would be eligible for? Also,  I wanted to get some opinions on whether he should include this information at the interview, he has no intention of staying but I'm a bit concerned that it might be seen as a reason why he would stay.

If the plan is to visit, then the appropriate visit is a tourist (B-2) visa.

 

There is no requirement to mention it unless asked, but it would be pretty uncommon for them not to ask about the purpose of the trip.

 

It does sound like an uphill battle - DR, single (?) male, US girlfriend, soon-to-be USC child, etc. That's a lot of ties to the US to overcome.

 

But I wish him both good luck with the application, and good luck & congrats to both of you on the upcoming birth.

He must be truthful at the interview.

All he can do is answer every question truthfully. There is no magic solution for approval and nothing you can help him with. The officer will make a decision based on the merits of your boyfriend’s case only. Letters, invitations, sonogram pictures, a new suit and tie, calling the embassy yourself will all have no influence whatsoever.
