this is an attempt to bring fallacious argument it seemed :)

So it is a fallacy that she has been openly anti-Semitic?

That is what I thought initially and then started reading about her history sometime ago and there seems to be a lot of questions and very few answers, she seems very unwilling to go there, you would have thought it would be very easy to quash it. Bit like Trump and his taxes?

The difference being Omar does not have the complete left wing media industry working against her.

Let's just back up on the flow of the discussion, someone says "For example, sharia law has ZERO place in America."  (err no one says we should implement sharia law - this is a red herring, and strawman)

then it was asked "Maybe I'm missing something, but are any of the congresswomen pushing for sharia law here? I think I missed that... "

It’s not a red herring.  My remark was more generic, not directed at the mysterious group to whom Trump made his remarks.

No one is going to stand right up and say “we will bring sharia law to the infidels”.  That would be political suicide.  But if it ever happens, it will be a slow process.  Have you ever heard of Hamtramck, MI?

Maybe a case of her wanting her personal life/personal marriage remaining private?  Her previous and current husband are not public figures, from what I can tell.  She doesn't need to explain to the public "why" she divorced someone, or "why" she got married at a young age---which has been two frequent questions she doesn't want to get into.   And I can understand that---at eye level it's  really no one's business (at least those two questions).

Heck, even VJ members shouldn't feel they have to justify that to anyone.

Well many Politicians would have similar view, including Trump.

When it comes to reasons behind marriage and divorce, I agree.  Unfortunately, Mrs. Trump is very much in the public eye now.

You're taking what I said out of context.  If you reread it, I said her "Her previous and current husband are not public figures, from what I can tell. "

I never said Omar isn't----only that her spouse/previous spouse are not.  Trump's spouse is a public figure since she's FLOTUS.

Not sure where you thought I inferred Omar isn't?

If asked, I suppose she can explain the immigration/legalities behind any marriage----but she needs to explain why she divorced someone?  What business is that of anyone's other than to feed more gossip about her?  For all anyone knows, she divorced the 2nd guy to get out of an abusive relationship and doesn't wish the world to be privy to that---who knows?  Why does it matter to anyone why she got divorced?  So I can understand her not wanting to answer that question when reporters ask.  It's irrelevant, just like it's irrelevant why Trump got divorced from Ivana or Marla.

I agree with you.  It's her personal life, and as long as it doesn't interfere with her professional one, no big deal.

Kind of the same way I feel Trump's tax returns are his personal business.  If he can pass the IRS and FBI checks, why do we "need" to see his returns?
