Why did he automatically think those women were from a different country, then?  Based on what?

So you know what he was thinking?  For the record, there are a lot of folks here in the US of many different skin colors that are from different countries.  In the end, I really think he was simply calling them out on their own rhetoric which is something the Democrats are not used to.

I never said I did know what he was thinking.  I stated what my belief was earlier in response to Boiler's statement of his belief.

You asked me if I thought whether he did it based on their race...I never answered that question, I responded asking what else would the question have been based on.  Unless you know what he was thinking, then?

Well naturally.  Just as there are a lot of folks in the US of many different skin colors that were born in the US.

Maybe, maybe not.  We can both agree neither of us knows what he was thinking at the time he said it.

I think he was just playing games, makes me wonder if a different set of opportunities arose he would not have stood as a Dem, I do not think he is an ideologue, just likes as he says winning.

He knew that this would produce a reaction no matter that it does not actually make much sense, as has been pointed out only one of them immigrated.

Just amused me that Kamala who likes playing IP herself, she only came out as Black this year, seems she preferred her Indian heritage before, said the same thing. So if it bad for the Orange Man why should she get a pass? Equality?

He didn't say anything about a country at all. I keep seeing this but he never said anything about country

I was thinking the same thing... 😶

I'm a straight white middle class woman. I don't face any racial or ethnic barriers in my life (dad's parents were immigrants from France, and my dad's first language was French, but it was never an issue for him, never told to go home; mom's family is mixed up English/German/Irish), but my two best friends are Japanese-American and African-American respectively. We are our own "squad" -- best friends since we were all 10.

My friend who is Japanese-American has grandparents who were interned during WWII; her great-grandparents were too. Her family has been in California for over 100 years, but I heard people telling her to "go home" when we were kids. I stuck up for her as best as I could, telling bullies that she was American, and that her family had been Americans for many years, but when people look at her, all they see is Japanese, and that that means she doesn't belong. One time I went to the emergency room with her when we were out in Mammoth skiing, she'd sprained her ankle badly and we thought it was maybe a break. No one saw us for HOURS because the staff were looking for an interpreter! It was so insulting.

My other best friend (who confusingly has almost exactly the same first name as my other best friend) -- easily the smartest of the three of us -- moved from Manhattan to Burbank in fifth grade. She has told me that it was a HUGE adjustment -- there just aren't as many black people in Burbank as there are in New York (she's right), and she was subjected to the worst kind of casual and malicious racism in school. I heard her called the N word and her being told to go back to Africa. Store staff would follow us when we were shopping, or she would be asked how many drive by shootings she'd ever seen (she lived on the Upper West Side in Manhattan before moving to Burbank so... um, none?). Her brother had the cops called on him once for walking the dogs late at night in our neighborhood. This is only the tip of the iceberg, and anyway, these are not my stories to tell.

It is really, REALLY different to hear an old, rich, powerful white man tell younger women of color to go home to countries that three out of four of them are not from simply because they have a non-white background, than when a woman of color like Kamala Harris make a comment like she did. It's a retort to Trump's comment, not racism, and not meant to really mean that Trump should "go home" (which after all would be New York). After all, President Trump's mother was from Scotland, so shouldn't HE go back to Scotland and fix what's wrong there (my fiance is Scottish -- I know it is NOT a perfect place) if he can say what he said?

Sorry, but to me this looks like racism AND sexism. I know people here will disagree with me. :)

I totally can see the part about facing discrimination in Burbank because there simply aren't a lot of black people in SoCal and in the LA area are segregated to specific areas. They differently get the short end of the stick because I see them face discrimination from Asians, Hispanics, and Middle Eastern immigrants.

I guess it's how it's viewed by the reader, in part?  I bolded the parts that stood out to me.

As is discovered, their "original country" and "from which they came" is the USA (except for one of the women).

What Boiler said could be true, too, that he's just playing games.  Who are we to know?

Has he given a counter-statement or said anything about them being US-born once it was pointed out that 3 of the 4 women were originally born in the US?  Not being snarky, asking seriously?  I've been trying to google one, but there's so much out there only focusing on the original tweets, not so much what (if anything) he said after finding out they were from the USA.

Not to my knowledge, not see anybody has pressed the point.

As an add-on he never identified anybody in that tweet so it would become one of those weird circular discussions.

Yeah he never mentioned a country though did he? No, he didn't mention anything about a country, so for me it just means that they need to fix their districts first. I don't normally give Vox kudos but they had a great article detailing about how this is all one big political game by Trump to associate the Mainstream Democrats with the far Left crazy squad.

If people read the 2 tweets as a paragraph, people would definitely know,

1. he mentioned of COUNTRIES where the Dems Congresswomen came from (surprise he DID mention of "COUNTRY", somehow goal post is being moved.. hehe...)
2. "and viciously telling the people of the United States" (as if the Congresswomen were not from the same country, they are also THE PEOPLE OF THE USA!!)
3. those country where he accused the Dems Congresswomen came from, had corrupt gov (according to Trump)
4. "why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. " (it baffles me why people can somehow give a justification by saying "eh he only meant to say their districts...") LOL.

Have you been to some of their countries of heritage?  Because I have.  And many of them are $hithole countries, with a population unwilling to make positive change (muslims vs gays, for example).
