Hello,

I have a question regarding the medical examination. My partner has health issues such type 2 diabeties, heart disease and schizoeffective disorder. Before he was diagnosed with a mental health disorder he had tried to kill himself 4 times. Once diagnosed and received treatment he hasn't had any issues for over a decade. These conditions are all stable and he's over all healthy.

Will these cause issue for approving a visa? Do you have any advice as to how we should go about providing evidence he's been healthy?

Also be sure to check if he is taking any medications if they are available in the US, and if they are, if they are expensive, and if your insurance plan will cover them.

Many meds available overseas are not approved for use in the US, and some are insanely expensive compared to overseas.

During the medical he may be required to undergo a psychological exam. I'm not sure if all countries have it but for Philippines they do. It's an extra step and separate payment outside the regular medical exam fee.

Also, as another poster said, be ready for the medication costs here in the US, once he arrives. Best of luck.

Hiya,

We're applying by DCF through the US Embassy in London.

My partner is going to have a medication examination and psych evaluation by his doctor and therapist. These will be added to his paperwork as evidence by professionals that know him. Then of course attend the medical required.

We've researched whether his medication will transfer to the US and only 2 will be different. Cost wise, with or without insurance, is very reasonable. Thank goodness!
