I think they gave me the wrong sheet of paper at the interview.

Hello all!

I had my visa interview in Madrid today and I was approved!

They gave me a sheet of paper and I believe it was the wrong one. (I think it pertains to CR-1, not K1).

Do you think it's a big deal? Should I go back to the embassy to ask for the correct one?

Thank you for your answers!

This looks like a general information letter on the next steps and possible upcoming processes in the future, once you move to the US.  It does not appear to be case specific so I wouldn't worry about it.

The reference to CR 1 is given by way of example of a type of visa where your first Green Card will be 'Conditional' so you have to apply to have it renewed after two year (less 90 days) of your adjustment of status.

Good luck with the next steps.  Looks like you're almost there :)

You're welcome.

When you get to the US and get married, you have to apply to remove conditions. More forms and another waiting game, but this time you get to do it with your spouse so the waiting is not that bad, even if it's a little frustrating.

Make sure that you file your I485 as soon as you can after you get married. USCIS did not send out any reminders or notices to us about doing this so I recommend hitting up the AOS sub forum on here so you can read up on what you'll need.  Once you are approved for AOS you get your two year conditional Green Card.  That is valid for 2 years from the date that your AOS application is approved and you have to file to remove conditions (to get your 10 year Green Card) within 90 days of the expiration of the 2 year card.  Make notes on your calendar, on your computer, on your phone .... sometimes they send reminders, often they don't and if you miss the window things get really complicated.

I tend to agree with you that this is the spouse visa sheet .. but I wouldn’t bother trying to get the right one unless you gave plenty of time

The required procedures  after entering using the K1 have been given above and are easily available on this site and on the USCIS webpages.

The document you received does not apply to K-1.  You will become a resident only after approval of your adjustment of status.........I would advise you to marry and file your adjustment of status paper within 90 days of your arrival....good luck.

I agree.  As long as the OP realizes that it is entry, marriage within 90 day, and AOS shortly after marriage (I know, there are other items such as SSN, etc.) there is no reason to go back and get the non-immigrant K1 version.
